Truth is sometimes not so charming.

GreedyTop -> RE: Forums to lose a regular? (3/11/2009 5:58:14 AM)

It has nothing to do with being lazy.  I gather that English is not your first language, so here is the definition of 'addiction':

ad⋅dic⋅tion  –noun the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma.

LisaCarter -> RE: Forums to lose a regular? (3/11/2009 6:10:24 AM)

Yes that is true. I said that American's use addiction as excuse for no control. American's are the most overwait country and they use addiction as excuse. No self control is not an addiction everytime.

GreedyTop -> RE: Forums to lose a regular? (3/11/2009 6:28:48 AM)

Rude:

–adjective, rud⋅er, rud⋅est. 1. discourteous or impolite, esp. in a deliberate way: a rude reply. 2. without culture, learning, or refinement: rude, illiterate peasants. 3. rough in manners or behavior; unmannerly; uncouth. 4. rough, harsh, or ungentle: rude hands.

LisaCarter -> RE: Forums to lose a regular? (3/11/2009 6:30:24 AM)

Impolite? Please tell how I impolite. I called noone name simply said truth.

KMsAngel -> RE: Forums to lose a regular? (3/11/2009 6:31:06 AM)

the young have no notion of tact.

(apologies to the few young who DO have tact, present company NOT excepted)

LisaCarter -> RE: Forums to lose a regular? (3/11/2009 6:32:21 AM)

Yesterday, yes i rude today not rude.

Christinestill -> RE: Forums to lose a regular? (3/11/2009 6:33:14 AM)

you spoke the truth as you see it, that is very subjective.  you don't know anyone's "reality" or what they're dealing with.  have your opinions, fine... but don't paint a whole country with one brush stroke based on a narrow and limited perception on your part.

LisaCarter -> RE: Forums to lose a regular? (3/11/2009 6:34:35 AM)

I did not paint, see this  http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/hea_obe-health-obesity
I do research before posting truth.

LadyPact -> RE: Forums to lose a regular? (3/11/2009 6:35:28 AM)

Greedy, I love you.[sm=hippie.gif]

The truth is that there is no verb in the above post.

KMsAngel -> RE: Forums to lose a regular? (3/11/2009 6:39:40 AM)

and look at the research i found:

"a generation of Puerto Rican children struggling with obesity and related diseases, once rarely seen among young people. Studies show 26 percent of youngsters here are obese, worse than on the U.S. mainland where the figure is estimated to be 18 percent."

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18768818/
http://www.redorbit.com/news/health/277763/official_obesity_high_in_puerto_rico/index.html

do i then conclude that puerto rico is a nation with a grossly high percentage of grossly overweight people and tar them all with the same brush?

a reasoning person would say not.

LisaCarter -> RE: Forums to lose a regular? (3/11/2009 6:40:13 AM)

Sorry, english not good. Use online translator sometimes, sometimes no.[&o]

GreedyTop -> RE: Forums to lose a regular? (3/11/2009 6:46:21 AM)

*swoooons* Lady P loves me!!

Lisa...Statistics never tell the whole story.  It's just numbers, and those numbers can be manipulated by either side of the study.

The numbers don't account for (in the case of obesity) genetics, addictions, other health issues, or, as you put it, laziness.  I'm not going to argue that there is a problem with obesity here in the U.S.  But you also have to take in to consideration that by current, media-driven beauty standards, ALMOST EVERYONE HERE IS OVERWEIGHT! By current standards, MArilyn Monroe would be considered obese.

Not sure I got that out right..
