How do you tell the public that you are into SM? Are your clues subtle? Do you use sybols like a triske tattoo or handcuff earrings, or do you do it in person, drop hints in conversation.... Just curious how others do it...

I flag in such a way that those in the lifestyle MIGHT see it. I always have my keys out, hanging from the left pocket. Beyond that, I don't bother. Classic flagging only works on those who are in the know...and hence, not vanilla anyway. Master Fire

I would be afraid I would lose my keys. I was going to say I don't, then I thought about how I met the delightful gentleman that filled my office with daffodils this morning. I always knew he was gay, he is one of my favourite people in the whole world, and he is a customer of ours. But through joking around without any thought, we both had a lightbulb moment. With that in mind, I guess little clues do slip into conversation without even thinking much about it.

(or whatever applies correctly).

Ditto on the keys. I've only ever lost Mine once, but I do have them on a hook that prevents that. On My rear view mirror of the car, I have a small set of red cuffs. I also have a purse that catches a lot of attention. It's the foot portion of a stiletto boot with chains that run up where the back part of where the foot would be and also serve as the strings. Let Me tell you. That thing is a legend in itself. Even the nillas love it. People go ga ga over it wherever I go. I've had people stop Me in the street to ask about it more times than I could tell you about. There has even been one instance when I was at a restaurant where a gentleman approached Me and offered to buy it from Me on the spot, for twice what I paid for it.

i tend to have very good gaydar, kinkdar and whatnot. i tend to pick up vibes of people around me alot, i typically know when someone thinks i am cute or if tention is in a room. its a matter of reading people, people will often joke about things they want to hint about, it depends on the person and how they joke. the "freind of dorthey" type flags dont work on people that much, its all about subtle hints, the more out you and they are the easier it is to pick up on the sub/dom vibes. iv found alot of the people i have met into kink will pick up on my vibes and flurt in a kinda assertive way. if i really like someone i tend to drop in my social assertivness alot around them to make myself seem more aproachable. i think picking up on vibes, flags and such isnt really something someone can learn that well beyound their own experiance, it is a people skill which you kinda have to learn by trial and error.

I have a key chain that I let hang out of my pocket....It is a nipple clamp with a dried up nip in it's grip. I figure anyone that talks to me without screaming, gagging or calling the cops is one of those "no-limit" subs I have been searching for.

Guess I not in the withit crowd keys hangin out of pocket??? Never heard of it. what does it mean? Ive seen ppl with keys on their belt loop same thing? Wallet on a chain have any meaning? BadOne

It's random. It depends on how much I want someone to know. I don't care to let everyone know. If I am attracted to a man on some level and want to clue him in, I can usually do so with body language, flirtation, or just directly telling him, if we're at an appropriate stage in a relationship. But casually - within 5 minutes, for example - I find it to be relatively easy as it's part of my persona, my flirty nature. I just put out "feelers" and see what vibe I get. I was at a hockey game a few months ago and a couple of "cute" guys were flirting with me and my girlfriend. We were sitting, they were standing in the aisle (intermission) talking. Rather than stand up, which is common courtesy, I motioned that he should crouch down instead. He looked at my boots, and he said, "Nice boots." I said, "Thanks. They go great with my whips and chains." The combination of that, along with my direct nature, my eye contact, and my body language was absolutely clear - based on his response, I could tell he was vanilla but open minded. I could have gone any direction with that. It just requires reading between the lines a bit. Akasha

Funnily enough i was in a police interview room yesterday (don't ask) and getting some funny looks. It wasn't until i got home that i realised my collar had turned and the padlock was on show [:)] So i'm guessing my collar and the handcuff necklace pretty much give it away [:D]
