Yes that would truly be horrible.

Imagine the chaos if we ever had a society that took care of each other.

We do have a society where people take care of each other.  Family and friends help each other out all the time.  Imagine if we had a society where only the government decided who got help?

You can pat yourself for being a good person because you demand that the government act as our moral enforcers (that is, your idea of morality) but it reamins so much theoretical bullshit.  I perfer to help those around me and I'll let the rest of the world worry about itself.  If everybody did that, we wouldn't even need the idea that government has to be our nanny.

Edited to add: and don't forget the numerous charities that help people who are complete strangers.  After Katrina hit, thousands of people headed south to help while millions more donated supplies and money.  Meanwhile, the government agency taked to help - FEMA - spent most of it's time standing around with it's thumbs up it ass.

Aren't we the government?

And as such, shouldn't we help each other as families and friends do?

I know Obama is a total failure but its way way to early to be talking about 2012.

• McCain refuses to commit his support for Palin in 2012

WASHINGTON (AFP) – Republican Senator John McCain gave lukewarm support Sunday to a bid for the presidency by Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, his former running mate in the 2008 race for the White House he lost to President Barack Obama.

In an interview with NBC, the Arizona lawmaker said he would "like to see her compete," when asked if he would approve of Palin running for president at some future date.

Pressed further on his likely support of the Alaska governor were she to compete for the White House, McCain was more circumspect.

"Oh, I'd have to see who the candidates are and what the situation is at the time," he said, adding in the same breath his "respect, admiration and love for Sarah and her family."

I've always preferred Michelle Malkin ;)

No, but seriously now... nobody actually believes she could ever run, right? It's impossible, in a rational world. Right? A thing of fantasy for desperate conservative men who can't come to Coulter anymore. Yes?

MasterShake69 -> RE: McCain supports Palin for president ... sort of (3/30/2009 9:09:16 PM)

hmmm she accomplished more between 2006-08 then Obama did ;)

Please, this train wreck from Alaska could not hold up her end as second banana on a national ticket, where does the idea come from that she is a legitimate candidate for a legitimate(R?) party?
She's a joke...the idea of her running is a really bad joke.

And if defense is a legitimate function of government then why isn't health care?

In the case of the United States government it’s because the Constitution says defense is one the governments purposes, it says no such thing about health care (and no, “promote the general welfare" doesn’t count).  In the case of Government in general, it is because it is impossible for government to ensure the well being of every individual (which is why the Founding Fathers, in their wisdom, wrote Promote the General Welfare and not ensure every individual's welfare) and if it tries it only ends up favoring some individuals at the expense of others.  Government, by it’s very nature, is corrupt, power hungry, and inefficient.  Perhaps you want such an entity deciding what (if any) healthcare you receive.  I don’t.  I prefer to have options and that will only come about in a free market.

Oh hell kittin, that middle America crowd, they love her....I say let her run. Obama probably sent flowers the next day. Silly Sarah.  You betcha. [;)]

Did you ever see that HBO documentary "Right America, Feeling Wronged".? It is on this month, catch it if you can, it was mindblowing. The Palin-ites are alive and well,  thriving in the south and whatever they keep calling "Gods' country."  The commentary from the boys at the Nascar rally right before the election was illuminating to say that least. By illuminating I mean in a cross burning kind of way. They must still be so pissed. [:D]  Hey bubba, your president is black! Ha ha ha ha ha ..sorry got carried away~

MasterShake69 -> RE: McCain supports Palin for president ... sort of (3/30/2009 9:14:14 PM)

well the reason why he wasn't the candidate was because of non republican interference in the primary's.  Thats why rush limbaugh started playing in the democrat primary.

Romney will be the candidate in 12, as he should have been in 08. Even as the Veep candidate we wouldnt be facing 10 trillion in debt to destroy capitalism and the health care system.

MasterShake69 -> RE: McCain supports Palin for president ... sort of (3/30/2009 9:17:06 PM)

well if you already have health care from your employer then you will be losing quality big time under Obamas plan.  If you are paying for it on your own or dont have any at all then it will be an improvement....in costs but not quality.

Health Care system? We have a health care system? Wow. Here's my system, Send check for 687.00 a month to Anthem, with a 10k deduct. For 2 adults, no kids, and no pre-existing. What is this system of which you speak that is being destroyed? If it is the one where my horrific monthly cost is almost a mortgage payment, and we might actually get a better one, destroy away.

So we already do.

The difference between me and you is that you want a third party to substitute its judgement for that of the peoples.  You want the government to decided who is properly helping and who is not and then enforce that descision.  Well fuck that!  I believe in freedom.

It never ceases to amaze me that the wing of politics that like to shout "power to the people!" balks at the idea of actually giving power to the people.

If you don't like them then find a different insurance company.

Yes, that's the answer.

Because they all aren't the same?

You want to argue government health care would be a monolithic bureaucracy but what do we have now if not that?

How simple. I believe if you go back a few pages here, I have them as well and in Maine they are really the only company that many doctor's will take, they have the largest coverage, and there is basically no worthy competion. I explained this already to CruelandUnusual. Not to speak for rule. Of course, you also need to enroll only at certain times, and have a physical in some cases, etc. Not quite as simple as your suggestion.  They are also very expensive and getting another 14.5% rate increase next month. Wonderful system.[8|].

shouldn't a rich business owner like yourself not need to care about the small monthly costs of her healthcare plan ;)

No.  They are not all the same.  You have options.  If you don't like any of the options that's not my problem.

Somehow I can't get too enthusiatic about the female version of Bush in the White House.

MasterShake69 -> RE: McCain supports Palin for president ... sort of (3/30/2009 9:35:50 PM)

Palins problem was she wasnt allowed to be herself until it was to late in the campaign.
by then it was way to late.

quote:

ORIGINAL: kittinSol

No chance of that happening: Palin is thick as two short planks. She sank it for the Reps this election: she would do it again, if she were nominated. Even the Republicans aren't that stupid that they'd nominate her again - especially not for an even higher office. She's toast. She'll end up on a chat show, or writing books, or both. So, no, it's not the last we've seen of her [8|] .

Aynne88 -> RE: McCain supports Palin for president ... sort of (3/30/2009 9:37:08 PM)

Sorry Shake, nice try to bait, but I have been here along time. The only thing a smal business owner in construction in Maine is rich in lately is stress, and that is in no short supply.  Besides, even in years when business was booming, and it will be again, I have been doing this for 20 years, even then I don't like getting screwed over.

I worry about anything where I am getting gouged. Don't you? Or do you just lie down and take it? That isn't really my style. Especially when it comes to the parasitical insurance companies.

Good thing She is most likely way easier, throw her a bottle of jack and a trip to Cozumel, you're in. Daddy's girl alright. Don't forget the 8 ball. [;)]
