ORIGINAL: Owner59 Hey Merc.Ever consider that you`re planing a move to a socialist country(the real kind, not your phony name-cally kind)? After a taste of the real thing, you`ll be good and admit that American capitalism(regulated non-predatory capitalism) and real socialism(what they have in Italy) aren`t the same.Yes? Appreciating your admission that the Administration has a desired goal of socialism; albeit you call it "regulated non-predatory capitalism". Is that an official 'Party' designation? (I know, I know, - you are allergic to questions - sorry!) You should try directness. I honor kittin's honesty by her direct response "Once can only hope. ( I think she meant one.) She's hoping for that result - I expect is as a consequence of actions taken. We differ on the desire, but aren't embarrassed by our polar opposite opinion of reality. It obvious by your support of the initiative, granted you changed the label, that you think this is a positive result too - but can't bring yourself to say. Government Motors provides that latest evidence that the government wants to eliminate the private sector. However, the latest proclamation from the Administration may be their undoing. What industry will consider expanding when removal of a Corporate CEO, elected by the shareholders, is now established as a Presidential privilege. What sane investor would put a dime into the US economy? (Sorry about again asking more questions!) Anyway.... Now, Obama 'owns' what happens to GM. He even wants to involve himself and his administration with the design of the new GM product line. He's given them "one last chance" to "restructure" or he claims to be ready to put them into Bankruptcy. That should make most of Middle America, the home of PRIVATE sector unions quite angry. It just may wake people up to the socialist agenda. However, I appreciate the historical similarity to another leader coming into power after a economic depression; who tried to help a struggling auto company in his country turn around their business. I recall, maybe its just urban legend, that's how the Volkswagen was designed. Hopefully that's the only similarity shared; but based upon the escalation of troop deployment in Afghanistan, and a long term tail to the 'withdraw' of Iraq; that may not be the only similarity. As far as Italy goes; I'm looking forward to dealing with their business climate. I already have more government support from them as 'pending citizen' than I've ever received from any US, or State Bureaucracy. I'm already being considered for a olive grower's cooperative! Being an Italian 'socialist' is a LOT more business friendly right now than being an US 'capitalist'. A HELL of a lot more profitable too for that matter! - Thanks for asking.
