Can American TV get any more boring than it already is? The so called reality shows are really lame because for the most part they are fixed. Every once in a while a show that has actual entertainment value comes along. As for the Big three (networks) they have long been dinosaurs just like US automakers are becoming now. I decided to post this thread because I came across a video displaying Free Runners having fun with their passion. This video then reminded me of one of my favorite shows, which happens to be a japanese import that is aired on the G4 channel. The show is called Ninja Warrior (on US TV, in Japan it is Sasuke) If you have it available check it out when the new season starts. It is a show which promotes individual competition on an obstacle course like no other. It promotes health and fitness for those who compete. It shows others things they can do on their own to practice at a lower level to maintain their own health and well being. About the same time I got interested in this show american TV came up with a game show called Hurl, (which I think has been canceled already) where contestants eat (usually something disgusting) as much as they can. The last one to Hurl is the winner. C'mon is that really the best we can do? The links below ; first one is Levi Meeuwenberg, (who you will see in the competition videos). It showcases his Free Running which is pretty amazing in itself. The other three videos showcase his effort in the Ninja Warrior competition in Sasuke 20 (this competition is held twice per year in Japan) where he went farther than any other competitor. In the 10 years that the show has been airing (in Japan and now US) only 2 men have made it to the completion of the course. YES it is a very difficult course, but all who compete strive to finish. In part 3 you will see a man identified as (Makato) Nagano who is one of the two men to complete the course. Ok so this is a bit of a rant about american TV, but I also wanted others to see that perhaps we can do better in the entertainment world. .....thoughts? comments? they do stuff like that on american tv as well nothing new just put crap on a special channel and not on regular tv oh that is right they do that already

Reality TV is the scourge of the world not the US. I can't remember the last time I saw a celebrity I recognised. I mean I know they are celebrities because people tell me they are but I don't know what they are famous for other than being famous. They just suddenly appear out of the blue like they were plucked from a secret society to be a part of the media world.

I don't even bother with the network TV. Thank the source of power for the History channel, TLC, Travel channel, Discovery, etc.

I spent 15 years in the industry and often wondered who some of the "celebs" were.

Reality tv is the pits.But guess what folks it is here to stay.The financials alone guarantee that.No need to pay "talent" therefore production cost's are minimal....ratings don't need to be any more than respectable and you have a cash windfall.....we are so screwed And lets not forget this is the country that made the A-Team a hit year after year after year...

Oh for the good old days of Wagon Train..Rawhide...Sky King and Charley Chan...Hopalong Cassidy and the Cisco Kid...good wholesome entertainment without sex and gore. Butch

We didn't need gore we had "SUPERMAN" Mild mannered reporter for a metropolitan newspaper fights a never ending battle for truth justice and the American way. Faster than a speeding bullet.
