Lockit -> RE: Contracts.. are they necessary (4/13/2009 12:21:54 PM)

I didn't read SailingBum's post to be quite honest.  I do agree that she already knows the answer because she is here and posting her questions.  Something is telling her she needs something to protect herself, whether she is able to admit it or not.

However, I do not believe that someone should blindly follow someone without a sound basis for it and I do believe that SailingBum addressed this in his comment of assuming she knew him longer than a few weeks.

Someone with someone a long time... knows bdsm.... knows self... knows her dominant... the answers might be different.  Right now... I think she needs a lawyer and maybe a counseler more than she needs a dominant.  Loneliness and the need for having someone and belonging and being loved can get one into some pretty serious trouble... That is where I would start in this situation... dealing with that and learning to live without until the right person.. the safe person comes along.  The red flags on him are there... but also, that lonely and need is a red flag and needs to be addressed.

Here are the rules: you can do any ding-dong thing you want to do.

Here is the probable outcome: you will be badly burned by this if you go through with it.

Really.

Oh, there's a chance you won't, sure. But it's a frikking risky-assed gamble on your part.

So much so that I'm having a hard time taking you seriously (sorry if you are for real about this.)

You're not a teenager anymore. Snap out of it.

This , of course , is just my opinion, but I could probably dig up statistics to support the argument that the odds of success for your financial decision here are not great.

YourhandMyAss -> RE: Contracts.. are they necessary (4/13/2009 12:24:04 PM)

you're counting negative, I am counting people who said they're not necessary, and I will go back and count every one who poo poohed them  in a  negative way or not. and post it. I do have nothing better to do for a while.

i responded to your statement "NOT WORTH SHIT AND ARE USELESS"

big difference from "not necessary" [8|] Hell..a marriage license (also a contract) is not necessary, if the hearts are joined. But you cannot say a marriage license, while not necessary, is not worth shit and useless. Do you see the difference?

read my above post. And if it makes you feel better to count all the "not necessaries" have a f**king field day. "Not necessary" was not the issue.

Now...i have better things to do other than sit here and laugh at your silliness.

BOUNTYHUNTER -> RE: Contracts.. are they necessary (4/13/2009 12:37:15 PM)

Any slave that transfers her future to an onwer that she isn't sure what his intentions are isn't thinking sane..Your money belongs to you and your children,Once a Marriage is in the making that maybe..HE SHOULD BE SETTING US A TRUST FOR YOU.......I am saying in MY view contracts are useless and many Doms feel the same as I do..Holly a marriage contract is legal in the eyes of the law and this is what its all about..B

YourhandMyAss -> RE: Contracts.. are they necessary (4/13/2009 12:37:29 PM)

Yup, but the difference is, you're counting only the negative replies stating contracts are not needed, and I am counting all the people who said no, and 5 people, myself one of them said no, and there will be more before the threads over probably.

And just to play further devils advicate, yeah people can say a marriage liscence is shit and worthless, the way a lot of married people just trash their marriage and cheat and lie and break oaths,  made to the other. But that' neither here nor there.

yeah...i know. You are correct. But i was taking unity rather than legality.

SailingBum -> RE: Contracts.. are they necessary (4/13/2009 12:42:41 PM)

Let me get this straight.  Not Only is the OP asking for contract advice now it's investment advice from complete strangers.  Some are saying sure it's all good.  I always take advice from strangers rather than friends, family, or pay someone for legal or investment advice.

Just cuz the OP doesn't know the answer certainly doesn't mean this is the forum to seek them.  This really is a no brainer.  Depending on how the contract is written some elements of the contract could and probably would be considered valid
Consult a lawyer.

Whatever you decide,  please keep in mind that your children and their welfare come first...way above your desires.
I think if a Master did not have my childrens best interest at heart, he would not be my Master.  Simple yet as complex as that.

OK unity counts for a lot but if some thing happens to one the the other is out in the cold unless there is a will..B

Lockit -> RE: Contracts.. are they necessary (4/13/2009 12:50:41 PM)

Some states have common law with as little as living together for six months.  I'm hanging with those that state a lawyer is a good idea! lol

subtlebutterfly -> RE: Contracts.. are they necessary (4/13/2009 12:58:22 PM)

Like what elements???
sure..the rendition on her securities to the dude would probably be valid (as long as he has the receipt and all that shit)...along with the money transfer from her account to his (also possible to prove with a receipt) but it can in no way take on the form of a prenuptial or a contract on it's own.
If a legal dispute arose the contract could help clarifying the parties original intentions. But apart from that it's pretty much void. If they've live together long enough they might be end up considered as a couple by the state..but..that doesn't mean a contract becomes legally binding.[8|]
anyway yep..I agree with the go all lawyerishy

yeah...but if the OP's dude vetoed a non-binding M/s contract...just imagine what he would say to a legal, binding contract.
