pretty gnarly if you ask me.
for everyone who whined that they need to get up and do something about it. take a look, they ARE.

hlen5 -> RE: Blog about Afghan women marching against law (4/15/2009 4:25:57 PM)

Thank You so much for posting this!! I'm sending prayers for their safety. They're going to need it.

Lockit -> RE: Blog about Afghan women marching against law (4/15/2009 4:31:58 PM)

I wish we could put hands and feet to those prayers.  It's frustrating.  I'd like there to be more that we could do.... as women...  That is bravery and I hope those that would, won't come down harder on them.

The best way to help these women over there is to show support for our military. They are the ones that will eventually stamp out the Taliban and put an end to the brutality these women and children have to face every day. They are flogged for putting nail polish on and outright murdered for other offences..No one should have to live under those conditions..

Riiiiiiiiight... because women's rights are at the forefront of the preocupations of the military everywhere.

servantforuse -> RE: Blog about Afghan women marching against law (4/15/2009 6:16:43 PM)

If our military doesn't help free those being repressed and murdered by the Taliban, who is.? What would be your solution ?

kittinSol -> RE: Blog about Afghan women marching against law (4/15/2009 6:24:20 PM)

My solution is to not have supported the Taliban in the first place... oooopsss, too late [8|].

Now that the bastards are there, I know one thing for sure: as long as we are governed mostly by men (and this applies to us in this country also), women's rights will come far behind any other concerns. My solution is to get more women in government everywhere.

servantforuse -> RE: Blog about Afghan women marching against law (4/15/2009 6:30:07 PM)

I guess you should take a little trip over to Afganistan and meet with the Taliban. You could tell them there should be more women in government. Just don't forget to take your burka. They will decapitate you if it isn't on..

kittinSol -> RE: Blog about Afghan women marching against law (4/15/2009 6:32:55 PM)

You assume I have never been there.

servantforuse -> RE: Blog about Afghan women marching against law (4/15/2009 6:34:35 PM)

I very much doubt that you have been there. It really doesn't matter though.

kittinSol -> RE: Blog about Afghan women marching against law (4/15/2009 6:35:47 PM)

Of course it doesn't matter, because it shoots your little dig right back where it belongs.

In the meantime, thanks for supporting women's rights; it's always lovely when people have a sudden realisation that something's awfully wrong. Keep up the good work.

servantforuse -> RE: Blog about Afghan women marching against law (4/15/2009 6:41:07 PM)

I still think you should go over there. Maybe you could do what the marines can't do. You could be the one responsible for bringing our troops home..When you are done in Afganistan, head for Pakistan..

It's amazing the places you can visit in relative impunity if you're the holder of a French passport.

Well, in that case, I'm back to whine again.

Why does it seem that people are so willing to let others suffer to right some wrong that happens somewhere else?  There are going to be over 17,000 American families separated by deployments to Afghanistan.  Some permanently because not all of them will come back alive.  Sorry, but I still say those people are more important.

Maybe you can take that dig back and stop writing offensive bollocks. Some of us have been to such places, personally for me I was in the Balkans and Azerbajdjan during the military conflicts working for the media - yes that's right, the media, no weapons, no military cover, just a notebook and a camera, and yes we got the stories back according to deadline.

Have you seen a hand grenade take a toddler girl's head off in front of her mother? How do you comfort said mother when you can't speak the language? How do you respond to machine gun fire when all you have are the clothes you stand up in?

You have no concept what you are writing about, no concept at all. THINK before posting, okay?

servantforuse -> RE: Blog about Afghan women marching against law (4/16/2009 7:07:15 AM)

All I am saying is that our military is doing everything possible to stop these atrosoties against women and children. Kitten seems to think that talking to barbarians will change them.

Lockit -> RE: Blog about Afghan women marching against law (4/16/2009 7:14:36 AM)

Where did she say that?  KittenSol didn't say talk to the taliban (or anyone else in this situation) and that would solve anything.  I saw her say something totally different as a solution and of course the fact that we (gov) shouldn't have supported them in the first place.

servantforuse -> RE: Blog about Afghan women marching against law (4/16/2009 7:19:42 AM)

Her solution is to get more women in government, everywhere. Thats nice. The taliban responsible for the killing in Afganistan doesn't seem to want that to happen.
