I love being nineteen and want to stay nineteen forever. My experience with older people that want to generalize about the young, is to answer them back, respectfully, without emotion, and with fact-based logic. They will usually back down, or just stop commenting at all ... which is just as good. I have also found that trying to respond to a wider variety of topics has helped me on this board. When a topic comes up where I have something to contribute, I try to respond ... but always be sure you know what you are talking about and have backing for the things you say. You have to be careful with opinions. Older people can have opinions and base them on life experience. We don't have as much life experience, so we need to find another way to bolster our opinions. I like to use history and analogy. History allows you to use the experience of others, to support your positions. Analogy always makes an opinion more supportable, because good analogy references something obvious and generic to a wide group of people. But ... ALWAYS make sure when you use an example, that you are accurate with it's application. If you make a mistake, you will not be forgiven, and will forever be looked at as someone not willing to put in the effort to ensure that they are accurate. I hope this helps ... cc
