I am glad you are feeling better and of course the Golden Gate Bridge is familiar to me.  [;)]

If there is anything I can do to help, Panda, let me know.  You should be able to see a doctor at any local Urgent Care type of place.  Call the front desk of your hotel and ask for information on the closest ones to you.

Thanks, you're an angel. I'll be OK. I'm not getting any sicker, so any day it should turn the corner. Slept half the day today, which should help a lot, and spent the other half marching up and down the Golden Gate Bridge, which at least helped cheer me up a bit. Watched the dolphins frolicking in the bay below the bridge for a while, and the sea lions. Then turned around and marched back before I became totally paralyzed by my fear of heights. That's one cool bridge they've got here. Did you know about it? Check it out next time you get up this way, if you've never heard of it, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Did he really ask if you ever heard of the Golden Gate?
Just how bad was the Panda feeling?

So you've heard of it too, then?

Sheesh. Don't I feel like the bumpkin.

Don't sweat the small stuff while your brain is feverish and images of dancing poppies fill your mind.  [sm=hippie.gif]

Poor Panda, I hate to hear, not only sick on vaca but alone and in a strange city. Talk about insult to injury

It gets better. I was too sick to board my flight today, so I'm stuck in some Best Western near the San Francisco airport. Hoping a good night's sleep will put me in better stead tomorrow, so I can get the hell home and be comatose in my own bed.

Oh, well. At least it's pouring rain, too, so nobody else within 50 miles is having a good day either. Fuckers!

LaTigresse -> RE: Swine flu transmitted to humans Mexico/USA (5/1/2009 7:28:19 PM)

When I am sick I want my bed with my favourite sheets. My puppies and cat curled up with me and someone to check on me every now and then and bring me fresh water. Otherwise, a dark cool room and lots of sleep. I am a cranky bitch when I am sick.

Fortunately I am rarely sick.[:D]

Maybe they'll close the borders now.....

This is about the fourth time I have heard the border sentiment in the last two days.  A woman in Ottawa County, Michigan is a confirmed flu victim.  She never went to Mexico nor did any of her relatives.  However, we have large mobile Mexican population in this area and that may explain it.  I had not thought about the Mexican population until I went into a party store and could not get to the back because of the lines of Mexican folks at the Western Union counter sending money to their families in Mexico. Then, a radio commentator said that a person could have the flu; recover from it; but still spread the flu.  I did not know that.  My step daughter canceled a trip to San Diego for fear of bringing it back.  She has not immunized her children because of the literature relating to autism and other problems caused by immunizations. Now she is worried.

I always want to curl up in my bed with the puppies nd listen to my wife's sarcasm because I got sick.  She manages to piss me off with her attitude that I usually end up getting better.

There is no vaccine for this strain of flu yet.

As for closing the borders............would be rather stupid since the virus is already within our borders.

It is simply a new strain of flu people. Not the black plague. Good grief.

Irishknight -> RE: Swine flu transmitted to humans Mexico/USA (5/2/2009 3:43:58 PM)

I am all for closing the borders but that has nothing to do with the flu.
