It's coming close to the time again in My local area for our group's slave auction and casino night***. The premise behind the event is that the Top's gamble in the early part of the evening in hopes of winning enough play money to bid on bottoms that will be auctioned off later. Bottoms spend the early part of the evening as either in the house as wait staff, serving food and drinks to the gamblers, or they can wrestle around with the wranglers in the 'slave pit'. (I hear they have a good time, for those who like a bit of resistance play.)

At auction time, each bottom is brought in to be reviewed by the Tops. A short list of the bottom's limits for the evening is read so the Tops have an idea of what kinds of play would be acceptable if they win the bid on the bottom. For example, some bottoms have limits on needle play or are only willing to be a service oriented sub (foot rubs, fetching drinks, etc.) for the evening. (Of course, additional negotiation is done later.) The bottom is then led out of the room and then bidding begins. The Top with the highest bid wins. The slave wrangler is paid in fake money that the Top was able to win during the gambling. The two proceed to negotiate what kind of fun can be had for the remainder of the evening.

This is just a quick overview of how the event goes. Our little group has a good time with the concept. It gives folks a chance at resistance play, role play (many bottoms come in character as to how they were 'captured' as a slave), the opportunity to play/serve someone different, etc.

If this kind of event was held (or is held) in your area, would you attend? What do you like about the idea? Why does the idea turn you on or off?

*** This is not an upcoming events post. The event that the discussion is based on is for vetted members of the local group only. The premise of the event is being used only for discussion.

Daddy and i would LOVE something like that...We are WOEFULLY short on any kind of strong local scene and there are no play houses or dungeons that i know of with in driving distance around here(Hampton Roads VA)

Sounds like a blast to me

The Lair recently had a "Dom auction" that I had to miss due to work *I hate it when being a grownup messes with my play, lol*, but I heard that much fun was had. Seems like it's a great opportunity for folks to meet, interact, and have a really good time.

This is HOT. I would jump at the chance to do something like this if the event tickets were reasonably priced and there were unattached subs involved. It's not as much fun when I'm counting down the minutes until the sub has to go back to the owner.

I'm not active in the local scene, partly because I don't like being one of the youngest people in the room at 38, and partly because I don't like most of the people in the local community. The few events I've attended have been primarly Stand and Model although there was a speed rope bondage contest at one of them that was fun to watch.

I confess, I'm a diehard role-play fanatic. I'd love to have a theme event such as Victorian High Tea or Night in a Sultan's Harem where everyone came in costume and the subs served and entertained. Say it with me -- "bellydancing slaves."

I'd love an event like that. The particular quirks and interests of everyone's slaves....so interesting, and fun!

Is there a means for a slave to refuse a particular top? Because I can see a problem happening if there are people you absolutely dislike and distrust winning you for the night.

Not everyone feels that comfortable with casual play with a person they've just that minute laid eyes on, without their own dominant there to watch after them. As a result I think you might wind up with a small pool of applicants. If it was real money being paid which went to a good cause, I think you might have more slaves participating but all as strictly service slaves.

Sounds like an interesting idea. I'd like the chance to get to know and be know by the bottoms so that you know you wont get a black eye from someone who doesn't want anything to do with you. as someone's pointed out.

Des, there are absolutely provisions made for those who don't want to play with certain Tops. We have one male bottom who is very specific about his limit of no male Tops are permitted to purchase him. There are also rules in place for those who only want to play with the person who brought them. It's not mandatory that all bottoms attending the event participate in the auction portion. For those not comfortable in doing so, they can make whatever arrangements that they want for the evening.

We have done charity events that have been for real money. I've participated as both auctioneer, as well as be auctioned off as a Top for various causes. (I'm kind of a soft touch for that kind of thing.) The idea for the fake money for this one is more for the fun of the gambling portion of the evening.

HalloweenWhite, as I put in the original, it's a vetted members only event. Everyone already knows everyone else, and there's never been an issue at these types of events. If it were open to the public, or there was private play involved (there's not), I'd see your point.

I would love to attend something like this event locally if we had them. All we have available is a munch group that meets every other Saturday in the area.
I would have to drive to Columbia to get into this tpe of action which is incredibly fun.

We're not really the target audience for such a thing, but for the sake of completeness I thought I'd respond. My wife & I are monogamous and don't "play" so we wouldn't be interested in this event.

This is a classic example of how monogamous couples get 'forgotten' and there appears no provision for them, at least if there is, it isn't clear. No, we wouldn't attend, even though the casino would be enjoyable.

Hugs and yumminess breathingone. We love to attend events as well, but the OP seems pretty clear that there are expectations to attending the event to play. If this event is sold as it is, it clearly states that bottoms will be expected to be serving across the board, not just their own top. That tops will have money 'won' that they spend on the auction - but what if they don't want to? That just doesn't give any consideration to monogamous couples. I could make a list of a number of things that would take them into consideration, but as the OP stands, it is an exclusive event.

No, the rules of the event aren't rigid. We have monogamous, non play couples come along, too. We have one M/s couple who basically come for the reasons given above. He likes to play poker, she only serves him. Still, it gives him a chance at cards and she socializes with the other house servants in the early evening. He tends to give his play money away during the auction part. (He does sit in on the auction, to watch the bidding and help others trying to make certain purchases.) They do stay through the play portion, even if it's just to talk with others.

Jeff, it's good to see you posting again. (My regards to Carol.) What? Married people can't like blackjack?

Ahh i must have missed that, well damn that sucks. Kinda near me is the Leather flea market and play party i think they do it once or twice a year in D.C. at the crucible. Its a LOT of fun, and i went to an event once at the playhouse in Baltimore. Its REALLY awful to have to drive 4 hours to get your kink on! LOL

Actually, that was something of one of the reasons I started the post. (That, and I'm completely tired of people being so uncreative that they can't be bothered to start new threads.) Having been on the board here (meaning the board of My local group) it can be challenging to come up with new ideas that will interest enough people in an event (especially a themed event) to get participation. The first question on any event coordinator's lips is always, "What would people have fun doing?"

No event is going to please everyone, just like not every demo is going to interest everyone. Still, the next time your local groups is running out of ideas, maybe you could present this one. They might be glad for the suggestion, and you might get your daydream.

I would definately attend and I would put myself up for auction! I already auctioned myself off once at a fundraiser for the group running the auction and had a wonderful time, both with the scene and with prancing around a bit to try and increase bidding.

To me, it sounds like a light-hearted night of fun.
