The American hamburger is a relatively recent creation. Hamburgers were not commonly made in America until the early 20th century. The first hamburger fast-food chain was White Castle, founded in 1916 by J. Walter Anderson of Wichita, Kansas

Automat predates White Castle and still exists on in train depots and other places, I'm asking for a ruling for the kneel side.

With their uniform recipes and centralized commissary system of supplying their restaurants, the Automats were America’s first major fast-food chain.

My apologies Bita, I did not see your Automat answer, the Dominants retain their score by providing the "official" answer, however Bita scores a premption for the subs Automat may not be a fastfood in the strictest sense of the term, but provided such services and predates WC's offering of them.
