~FR~

I've gone down 5 lbs in two weeks (since dropping the steroids) :) and that's with spraining my ankle on the 3rd and being relegated to crutches and moving as little as possible till yesterday :P

Still going doooooown, hopefully. Not really ever hungry beyond normal, glad to be off those damned meds, though, they made me gain 15 pounds or so. I'm going to be back on my losing track again soon.

"Eating to Lose" is a wonderful concept that I'm living (and that I'm living proof of it working). It's a life-style change, but not a hard one, and one that will/can last a lifetime :) My dream-weight (260lbs) has a target maintenance diet of around 3300 calories a day (for my height and age), while my current 'to lose' amount is just around it, from 3130 to 3630 with one day of deliberate over-eating while I'm trying to lose. I already don't get hungry (and, actually, it's a chore eating that much every day) at my current diet. It makes me feel great to not be fighting insurmountable odds, anymore :D

Plus, my mom's recently discovered acai (ironically from its original source, not the phony online stuff) and loves it... she's going to get me some to use this summer too. She says she doesn't know if it helps her lose weight, but it definitely makes her feel more energized which is, in itself, a good thing. My docs cleared it, too. I'd suggest it... we get it through Sambazon.

I have Celiac disease, and I can just tell everyone- if you want to lose weight, maybe cut out glutens. Most foods today have a "Food Allergies" warning which tells you if the item contains wheat (means it has glutens). If it does, you can't eat it. This means no to breads, a lot of cereals, beer, non-corn chips, and etc. I've never been overweight, at all, but I still dropped 10 lbs that I didn't have to lose when I first adjusted to it. It's not unhealthy, although you probably need a multi-vitamin. So if you want a creative way to have some carbs, but for the most part cut them out, then this is a good way to do it. You'll find your energy drop a bit at first as your body adjusts, but then it picks right back up.

Anyways, there are tons of gluten free recipes and cookbooks, and you will by default find yourself eating more veggies and such. Adding organic wheat free tamari sauce to anything makes it good! Just not too much as it is loaded with salt.

Hey...how did the "Kinky Weight Watchers" get pushed to the second page??

I need help!!  I just ate a horribly fattening meal  (I refuse to say what it was) and I'm trying to convince myself stay away from purging.

Damn fast food restaurants.

Personally I'd never advice ppl to stop eating something..rather take smaller amounts of it or only have it once a week etc..

sblady take a brisk walk/jog..or if you want to burn a lot of calories quickly skip fast or just normally, skipping outweighs running
puking is never the way to go

If anybody's interested:
Activities & calories /10 min. 65 kg (143 lbs) woman   -    85 kg (187 lbs) man

Cycle (around 8,8 km per hour) 36 cal   -   49 cal

Thanks for the tips, subtlebutterfly.  I'd already decided to work out and although I'm sure the hour of cardio didn't burn off the fast food, I feel better.

Good news IK! And congrats to everyone else who is losing weight.  Keep it up.

Well, i lost 35 pounds last year from summer to December on WW.  i've held steady the first four months of this year and need to drop 65 more pounds to get to goal.

i'll do just fine until i go out to eat and then i try to make good choices but it always means a gain that i have to lose again.  i think part of the problem is salt and i've started to order my food with no added salt. That may help some.  The other thing i need to do (but don't always) is take home half of what comes on the plate.

As far as recipes - i post a lot of sensible meal ideas on Bounty's Coffee Shop (P&ORS) where i am the nekkie cleaning slave, cook and sometime serving girl.  Just today we had Grilled jerk pork chop with grilled pinapple slice and grilled nectarine half.  Sometimes i give the point value.  A nice desert is Splenda sweetened Angel Food Cake (from WalMart) with sliced fresh strawberries.

I just signed up at a local gym.  They have a fantastic success rate in shaping people up.  I know two of the guys they have run through their 120 day program that came out looking way buff.  Lets see if they can do the same for me.

The Lyme disease with the accompanying exhaustion and joint pain tossed a wrench in my exercising spokes but I've kept up the healthy eating part. To be honest I haven't jumped on the scales. Too grumpy to do it. But my clothes are a wee bit looser so I certainly haven't gained anything. Just haven't been able to exercise like I would prefer.

The Depakote has made me gain 10 pounds so my pants are feeling tighter in the waist but not the butt. Tonight I am having a salad, not a frozen meal (I hate cooking at this time). When Mom get back from Jamaica (told her to avoid the jerk...YUMMY!), we are both going back on simple diets that does not have prepared foods, but lots of salads, fruits and veggies. I am also getting a pedometer so I can measure how much I am walking daily.

haha, a waste is a terrible thing to mind

my outlook on it is that people should be more concerned with What they can do with their body rather then How it's "shaped"

If your skinny, but you can't run a mile in less then 10 minutes
then your ass should get in shape
if you can't do a pull up, get your ass in shape
if you can't perform a physical chore outdoors continually for at least four consecutive hours
your ass needs to get in shape

if you should happen to shed a few pounds in the process, great, if not, great, you can now kick the ass of any one who makes fun of your gut

Boxing is a great workout in addition to the proper diet. Muhammad Ali never picked up a weight when he was a fighter.

April 1, I started out to lose 40 lbs by conference (June 1), I lost 20--and though it wasn't all I wanted to, it was enough for the wow factor, enough to kick start My enthusiasm and enough to really motivate Me to do the rest.

So I'm really doing salads, working out more, pushing the walking and trotting alongside the horses. I feel so mavelous---not bad for My real age--guys look again, clothes fit again and I'm happily arrogant again. LOL

I have maintained a 100+ weight release for a year now and want to release 50 more..and it is a struggle.
I started on ATKINS for about a month then counted calories..

I released the first 60 in about 2.5 months then the next over..5 months

I keep going up 15 and then down again..trying to see where moderation ends and binging begins..trying to see the dis..in the "order.."trying to get it at a regular person way of eating..so not gorging..not starving..and I keep doing either
I have been over eating since 4 yrs old.

I  pick one thing I can have all I want of like grated carrots in a big bowl or green apples or grapefruit or plain popcorn...due to a quantity thing..and a need to chew..

I make & plan the salads of the meal FIRST and that covers most of the plate.then I place the pototo or meat....
I eat few carbs.. I have a dessert once a week
I got nice dishes and goblets to make nice presentations.. and use funky napkins

I imagine the meals I will have in my head ahead of time...so that I see them..
and have everything ready for them
and am not just going to grab a burger..or anything like a pile of rice with butter

AT one point I had an EMPTY fridge completely..and justwent a got what I needed for the day..becuz I kept getting in the night to forage and graze...

I replaced hunger "feelings"/wants with bubble baths...reading..creativity..doing art and writing..

I found the book THE SLOW DOWN DIET really good..
its tells you how to be PRESENT to your food..to slow down...to really SEE and experience with all your senses
also FEEDING THE HUNGRY HEART  was good

I have increased walking from 1 block initially to about 20 a day

I am disheartened by the hanging skin apron I have and bat wing arms I have but have been assured I can have it removed if it is still there in a year @ $8000 ..some may be paid due to keeping pics of the loss and the health issue.

Despite the skin..I am happy I can keep up with my grandsons.. and not gasp as I go up stairs..

I DID a lot of meditations and affirmations imagining the fat being turned  and burned to energy for fun ..trips..and to do things I want..like playing with my grandsons

I had a full length leather coat made for the 100 lb celebration

 a FAV RECIPE:

BEACH SALAD
Romaine in chunks
mandarin wedges
sliced almonds
shopped green apples
a few dried cranberries
small goat cheese chunks
dressing  TBSP of low cal FROZEN lemonaide ( yep)
**a roast chicken breast (warm) on top is good too

all the best to everyone in their release

Allow me to clarify, I meant, "Boxing for Fitness".  The only thing you hit is the heavy bag & speed bag.

I started 6 wks ago with the south beach diet. It wasnt so much to lose weight,  but  to help me to quit eating sugar. That worked well, and now I added non smoking to this, and still am doing alright. I do take vitamins and i have several forms of exercise I do. I work out in the pool with resistence exercises, and when not doing that, I do free form dancing. I sure do feel healthier, and only gained 3 pounds when i quit smoking. Now I dont feel the need to feed my face either, because I am not smoking.

I fell in love with ricotti cheese with a smidge of peanut butter and a dash of sugar free hot coco added to the mix. It is really yummy and satisfies my sweet tooth.
