I am blowing my diet tomorrow due to my b'day. I got a small ganache cake, some petite sirloin steak and a potato after my mandatory diet sodas (I am weaning myself to more water and tea). I am also taking the day off to read Eldest unless I got more downloads to do.

Now, if I had the Wii, I would be boxing like crazy. There is a active game that consists of several exercises that I would like to have...LOL!

I have been granted a fairly high metabolic rate. I don't gain loose weight really. It merely changes form.

After my accident of 20 months ago I'm still in process changing it  back to what i want it to be, and making pretty good progress. I have a feeling though that at 48 it will very difficult, and perhaps impossible, to make my stomach a wash board again.

I just exercise and eat good foods - grains, veggies, fruits, mostly unprocessed so without the HFCS that in almost everything. I do meats and dairy too. I don't worry too much about carbs but I do limit the overall carb intake.

One part of my regular diet is dark chocolate. I have some almost every day. I rationalize this by studies in recent years that say it is good for you in small amounts.

I'm 70lbs overweight. I was 80lbs overweight before I began treatment for diabetes. The weight dropped off exponentially for ten days and has now normalised.

As part of the treatment for my Diabetes,I'm following a healthy diet of mainly roughage, salad ingredients, meat cooked from raw and carbs (replacing my favourite - bread - with diet wheat crackers). This has maintained the 10lbs weightloss nicely, despite, if I'm brutally honest, having one naughty thing a day. OK that's not strictly true...I am actually enjoying my new regime and don't stray outside the rules too often.

Naturally, I have to regulate my sugar intake, but this is reasonably easy, as too much sugar has made me feel drowsy and generally unwell for months, maybe years. As I was also diagnosed with hypertension, I'm staying away from salt too. Again, this is a happiness, as any hint of salt in my diet previous to diagnosis gave me palpitations.

The next step is to get into the pool and gym and start toning up the muscle I'm rediscovering.

Boxing is a great workout in addition to the proper diet. Muhammad Ali never picked up a weight when he was a fighter.

Ali also had a program of using the resistance of water by practicing in a swimming pool.  He would shadow box in the water to increase speed and strength.  Add that to the cardio workout that all boxers have to do to stay in shape and he was doing just as much as most weightlifters and it was easier on his joints.

One of our local businesswomen wants to add boxing to the things she offers in her studio.  I agreed to teach the basic boxing and kickboxing courses to help me with my health as well as earn a little cash.  My wife may even dust off her black belts and teach some martial arts for her.  We both taught years ago and we both kind of miss it.
