Yes I could, if I wanted to. But I don't.

Wild turkeys are vastly different in appearance from the turkeys that are raised for grocery stores. Colour is the main thing. They are big birds and leave a hella dent in the front end of a car.

I also have a doe that is hanging out with my horses, keeping her baby or babies (haven't see it?them yet to know) closeby in the tall grasses. She was in the yard Tuesday morning when I took the dogs out. Just standing and watching us. Last year during rut I had a young buck that was hanging out and rubbing on my young fruit trees. He even challenged me one morning when I went out to feed horses. I threatened to have him for dinner.

I had one pull a freak on me also...and no one believed me! They are highly territorial during mating season.

If it becomes too much of a problem, LadyT, put a salt block a good distance away from where he has been hanging out. He will gravitate to the new area.

I am sooooo not worried. No one EVER wants to really actually visit. Fraidy cats!

Fortunately Holly, after I told him I REEEEEAAAALLLY like summer sausage and those little sticks made with venison, he stopped coming up so close. Smart boy.

I am currently living in New Orleans; FQ.

The people are fantastic; but what really keeps me in this particular area is the clubs, and the music. I can sit on my balcony and listen to the jazz just drift on the wind. It's absolutly beautiful.

i remember drinking too much Bourbon on Beer St (or something like that) and sitting on a balcony thinking "this is as good as it will ever be" while the sound of one jazz horn played in the distance...

IrishMist -> RE: Where are you from? (5/15/2009 11:57:35 AM)

Let me see

I was born on the south side of Chicago...not a pretty place, and I am not talking in terms of scenery [8D]
Lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado for two years........absolutly beautiful
from there we moved to Hammond Indiana...again, not a pretty place
and from there to Waco Texas, where I lived until about 10 years ago
moved back to Inidana but on the other side of the state now, near FW

Right now, I like where I am living. It's mostly Amish and farm land ( about 95% of the population in my town is Amish ) and the people are just simply wonderful to live around.

breatheasone -> RE: Where are you from? (5/15/2009 12:04:31 PM)

If I could, I would live (at least part time) in the Quarter. I love that place so much.

Yes Ma'am. I have only been here for about 4 or 5 years; but at this particular time, I can not imagine wanting to live elsewhere.

LaTigresse -> RE: Where are you from? (5/15/2009 2:49:07 PM)

I don't blame you one bit. I fell in love with it immediately and cannot wait to go back.

SilverMark -> RE: Where are you from? (5/15/2009 3:19:43 PM)

I was born in the same hospital as Steve McQueen in a suburb of Indianapolis, In. I have lived in Chicago, Rochester,NY, Northern Ohio, and now in Atlanta, Ga. Indianapolis is and will always be home!...I have a home an hour and1/2 North of there still where I spend a great deal of time in the summer on a lovely small river in a town that has less than 3000 people!...
I will always have a home here in Atlanta but, hope to some day spend from May through September in Indiana on the river, then get my ass South before the winter sets in!!!!!

slaveJezabel -> RE: Where are you from? (5/17/2009 6:05:04 PM)

Hmmm thinks about wild turkey hunting in the nude.

MyLovespet -> RE: Where are you from? (5/19/2009 5:43:51 PM)

Born and raised in the Bronx... New York City. Then lived in Manhattan then Queens.

After that Sleepy Hollow in Westchester County (just north of NYC). Sleepy Hollow as in Washington Irving, Headless Horseman.. "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow". I lived on a dead end street and the cemetery was right outside my front door.

Now I am 2 hours north of NYC living in the Hudson Valley. Coyotes running through my backyard are making less and less of an appearance as the years go by. Sad.

sugargirlxxx -> RE: Where are you from? (5/21/2009 11:54:50 PM)

I was born and raised south side Chicago, slithered to Ann Arbor MI 5 years ago.

NoLeHace -> RE: Where are you from? (5/22/2009 7:47:59 AM)

5 miles from Buffalo, 5 miles from Niagara Falls.....I get different responses when I use one or the other....
