I don't know what "connections" to other terrorist groups has to do with it.
Do they need to have "connections" to (another) group to be taken seriously? If they're willing to firebomb synagogues and blowup National Guard planes I would think that they could be considered a "viable" terrorist group.
They may think that al qeada are a bunch of pussys for all anyone knows and not want to have anything to do with them.
Is it really neccessary to have a "connection" to another "like-minded group" before these savages are taken seriouly?

Not at all... remember they had them under surveillance for a long time... They could and I'll bet did get a warrant before the fact...as it should be done.

Considering they're the ones who make the decision on whom is under surveillance, it doesn't amount to a great deal.

I'm not the one running 'round with a mob on a witch hunt.

These "savages"? Do you mean criminals?

Also, the reason it is an important point as to whether they had connections or not: If they had connections then there would likely be other active cells plotting similar things and it would need to be handled by the authorities differently than an isolated group.

Mob? How many constitute a mob? This would be one of those perception things you have mentioned before, eh?

Pardon me Orion, I meant "Deuschbags."

I'm not sure but I think you are commenting on the wrong post... the above was not directed at you but to servantforuse
I mean it is fine to comment on what I said but I get the impression that you thought the " Now I don't know for sure but neither do you" was directed at you.

Mob? How many constitute a mob?

Orion, that is easily the most bizarre response to one of my posts since I've been here. I'm baffled, but.....

A mob could be one where he/she is convicting people of a crime who haven't had the benefit of a jury.

To those out there that think there is no threat from terrorists on our soil, you should all pay attention to stories like this...

Who thinks that?

A few posts on page 1 aren't exactly objective.....

Why does it come down to slamming the GOP or the DNC? Truth be told none of the ass clowns in either party give a crap about the people who vote them into office. This beastial act was in the mind of a bunch of animals bent on killing us. It has nothing to do with the rotten s.o.b.'s in either of the major parties.. sure as hell both sides will be doing all they can to get face time though.

Ah, more of those moderate peace loving Muslims, maybe if they were hugged more as a child...[8|]

Just a guess, but I don't think these were the moderate ones.

OrionTheWolf -> RE: Terrorist cell arrested in New York (5/21/2009 2:30:21 PM)

Maybe I should try to help your bafflement. I am not sure why you used that phrase, as only a few posters seemed to have the witch hunt mentality. Many forget that we have home grown radicals in the US, that can easily become extreme (OK City Bombing).

Not sure which part of the UK you are in, but maybe you could give us a perspective from how the government in your country handles domestic terrorism. So far everything I have read in this case, none of the grey area stuff was used, just old fashioned investigative work, combined with legal aquisition of evidence. Heck they even provied fake bombs that these four planted.

I personally think we have lost touch with any shread of reality when you can say someone who gets arrested sitting in FRONT of a SYNAGOUGE with 40 pounds (what they believe to be) explosives so they can start (what the police have them recorded as stating) a jihad in which they don't care how many jews are killed needs a FUCKING JURY to decide if they are guilty or not....
But then, I'm the nutjob conservative in the group.  What do I know.
Perhpas it was an episode of punk'd gone wrong, and the terrorists were expecting Ashton to pop out with the cops and start laughing...

Reality is that we are a country that was founded on the US Constitution, which guarnatees due process. Do you disagree with the founding fathers and the US Constitution? So what conservative values do you hold? Should a mob have the right to make a judgement and enact a punishment without due process?

Then the jury should have an easy time of it. Problem solved.

MissSepphora1 -> RE: Terrorist cell arrested in New York (5/21/2009 5:29:31 PM)

Should anyone who so blaringly disregarded the law, and the lives of those in that city, be able to claim the rights to the same laws that they disregarded themselves?
I mean, these guys are OBVIOUSLY guilty to everyone who has a brain.  Don't say they are innocent until proven so.
And if they try to use the treatment of their muslim brothers in Gitmo as a defense, I will laugh my ass off.

Then you disagree with the US Constitution, and the principles that America is supposed to be founded on. Maybe another country may be to your liking, or try and have the laws changed. It seems you are the one advocating not following the law, which entitles everyone to due process. Hypocricy is what you have just stated.
