At the present time we are living miles from anywhere in the grounds of a big old Georgian house. We are restoring the house and have full access to all the rooms including the servants quarters (not much has been changed in this house for 200 years). We also have the stable yard, the hounds kennels and daisies milking parlor.
It has been like walking back in time (kind of spooky at night when the barn owl starts hooting) and its a great play space.

I have had dungeons and I have had other great play space but this has to beat everything I have ever experienced.

Maria

No kidding, I was going to describe this as my fantasy location...

I just thought her stuff was poorly written. A lot of others did too but glad you liked her books:) I have the whole set, would send it to you if I knew where it was loaned it to daddy an he put it somewhere.

I read the whole series and I thought it was crap and a lot of the stuff was so unrealisstic that it ruined any sense of oooooooh that's erotic and just made me scoff and call bullshit...

I suppose it depends on your usual taste in books. I read a lot of fantasy books so I'm well used to suspending my disbelief regarding a lot of the more unrealistic stuff. It was still a very well written book that really captured my imagination. Im currently on the lookout for the next two.

DesFIP -> RE: Your Ideal Play Setting (5/29/2009 9:33:26 PM)

I have the ocean front glass house. But no chains from the ceiling as it's 20 feet up.

Perfect setting for me is a hotel suite. Just want to be out of the house, no laundry or cooking to do, no errands to run. Room service a must.

I suppose a hotel suite is ok of you are into gags and vocal restraint, but I prefer to hear her loud screams and cries and moans and laughter mingle with Stairway to Heaven blasting on the stereo, even sans white sheets and room service, any old day.

But you know what they say;  the glass is always cleaner on the other side! <groan>

i've played in hotel rooms...even with the ball gag it's a bit of a strain. And i have had the front desk call and inquire about "noises". In my experience, the good folks at The Hyatt
seem to be the most accommodating *winks*.

I spy a local, unless there's another Hyatt around somewhere LOL

We rent apartments - always found them very accommodating and tolerant...especially as everyone else seems to be at it come 2am...

KnightofMists -> RE: Your Ideal Play Setting (5/30/2009 7:19:02 AM)

oh this is easy...

a Dungeon in a castle..... stone floors and walls.... lite with torches flickering everywhere but not lighting the entire room... shadows in the corners.... portions of ceiling are low and enclosed but other parts high so screams will echo... yes lots of echoing sounds.... the sounds of water dripping can be heard if things are quiet.  the smell of warm and stale air but yet there is a breeze and for those poor victims their is a fear to feel of fresh cool air.  Since when they do it is because the door of the dungeon open and the rush of air from outside comes in and so does the sadist.... the screams begin soon after.

Out in the woods with a full moon would be my ideal setting for play or Stone Hedge.

I live a few minutes from Stonehenge. When we were children we could roam around, touch it and generally hang around there. Now you cannot touch it and have to walk around a designated path and just *look* at it. The only times it's open to get up close is when there's a solstice. The days of the festivals are over. I've never been to a solstice there, but my kids have, and done fire-poi and there during them.

I would definitely choose a beach, with a beach fire outside a flimsy tent. Roll on the summer holidays.

Lucky you... I used to love Stonehenge and the summer solstice but sadly wouldn't spend it at Stonehenge again because of the huge police presence. The cops just hate us peace lovers [&:]

PanthersMom -> RE: Your Ideal Play Setting (5/30/2009 1:19:44 PM)

fully stocked dungeon, definitely, with an area off to the side with a heavy 4 post bed complete with chains and restraints as well, lit with candles every few feet or with spotlights over various areas, a very large fireplace in the middle of it all, one of those round stone ones, mmmmmm!  a small sauna/jaccuzi area off the main room, a nicely stocked lounge area beside that.  nice little getaway spot.

When you live right on top of it and saw the sheer mess that the *peace-lovers* left behind, it's less of a sticking point. Like anywhere else, it's the few that ruin it for the *many*. The press coverage always had a bias one way or the other....the locals V the festival-goers.

It takes a bit more endurance to attend these days, so it doesn't have the same * turn up and get doped out of our heads* thing going on. If it had been a few dopers having a bit of a *do* ....it'd never have got quite so *heavy*.

Glastonbury gets the same conflicting stuff.

YourhandMyAss -> RE: Your Ideal Play Setting (5/30/2009 1:57:17 PM)

I actually found some of those concepts hot, now I only got to read two books, if I remember right it was number one and number 11  but
I found some of the female's plots to be quite sexy andt here was a lot of sensuality I wouldn't mind being able to mimic.

but I would say the whole idea that women are subs cause we're women and men are doms cause they're men and that is just how it is was bullshit.

Agreed, some of his concepts are great, and I too prefer the female plotlines. I recommend books 4 and 19 if you can find them. I just find his writing style atrocious...and his DIALOGUE....Ohhh my god!

KMsAngel -> RE: Your Ideal Play Setting (6/3/2009 6:46:30 AM)

Wally 143 Esense. in the middle of nowhere.

swimpecs -> RE: Your Ideal Play Setting (6/7/2009 8:11:56 AM)

either very rudimentary & old/messy/dirty (a very old basement or a room untouched by paintbrush for many decades) with very simple but intimidating accessories - nothing feels better for my sub mind attached to my naked sub body than some scary looking big stocks or shackles... of course alternative for me is outdoors ana dagain back to basics... Something about feeling so vulnerable/exposed - just a helpless body. Somehow very 'clynical' ultramodern dungeons don't have that feel of utter menace.

BoundDragon -> RE: Your Ideal Play Setting (6/7/2009 9:02:38 AM)

As stereotypical as it is I too would love a proper dungeon to be dragged off to, with the flicker of orange from flaming torches burning noisily on the walls, the floor cold and hard beneath my bare feet sending shivers up my spine.
All the furniture would be made of dark, heavy oak which is centuries old, solid and unshakeable.
I'd love to be thrown on the rack and pulled tight til I'm screaming for mercy or offering to do anything in return for some relief.[:)][:)]

Otherwise I'd love somewhere rough like an abandoned warehouse or derelict house. To be kidnapped and dragged off there to the filth to be used plain and simple.
Theres something about that which seems so raw and exposed... I love to feel so totally without hope and that kind of place would lend itself excellently.

A penthouse apartment with one glass wall.  A large wooden table placed close to the glass and hooks in the ceiling above the table.
