Thank you, Angelika. It's hard to imagine that there are still images of Marilyn out there that were never published, after all this time. She was so beautiful and so incandescent. I love the one of her lying on the bench in the woods, reading what appears to be a script.

She seems so innocent and yet there is a sadness in her eyes at the same time.

I've never found her appealing.  Dunno why.  My favorite in this series is the one of her walking away...

Thank you for sharing. For those of you that have the time, here is a link to an auction catalogue that shows some photos of Marilyn I've never seen before.

Thanks for the link, I like black and white photos, and I do like the innocence of the first photo, even if it's not a particularly happy look.

Ditto. I never have understood the appeal. The blonde bimbo thing has just never done it for me. I can only stand about 5 minutes of a conversation with a woman like that before I feel like screaming and pulling my hair out.

Now, I do understand that Marilyn Monroe put on an act for folks, and that the dumb blonde thing was essentially a character she was playing. But I don't find real life dumb blonde bimbos to be attractive...just saying.

I'm one of the guys who feels a certain avuncular attraction for Marilyn.  She was such an unhappy soul, yet incredibly photogenic.

There's a bit of a backstory about the munitions plant gig where she was "discovered".  Turns out that Reginald Denny- a well known actor from the 30s was into aviation- which included model aviation.  Model airplanes didn't have the geek factor that came along in the 60s or so- there were lots of actors ranging from Jimmy Stewart to Henry Fonda who built and flew model airplanes.  Reginald Denny even designed airplanes (Dennyplane) and had a factory building model airplane engines (aka Dennymites).  When the war broke out, being a patriotic soul, he offered his services and scaled up his models a little bit to become target drones.  The name of the factory was Radio Pane Munitions (IIRC) and the shot that featured Norma Jean was posed, but involved her putting a propeller on an airplane.  In my book, making target drones doesn't really count as munitions, now does it?  Let that be another lesson in the accuracy of the press.

Clearly there's another reason I'm fond of her- I'm an airplane nut.  Anybody wanna bet that Reginald Denny had a hand in getting her career launched?

Sam

On a different note... man am I- down tonight.  I must be over tired.   Just very depressed.  I was going to drop the dosage on the efexxor.       The summer weather systems arent helping.     I never made it to go on errands today.   Maybe tommorrow.

I've never found her appealing.

I'd always felt the same way until a few years ago, when I saw a scene of her stepping out of an in-the-ground swimming pool. I remember thinking to myself, damn... she is hot! I don't know the name of that flick, but I believe it was one of her later movies. Dean Martin was in that scene, and spoke to her after she got out of the pool.

I've never found the dumb-blond routine appealing either.

It's the Illuminati messing with you.

Seriously though, I hope you feel better soon.
