As for putting him in jail for life or giving him the death penalty.....any jail time at his age is a death penalty. Unfortunately giving one a death sentence will mean many many years in prison going through appeals that never seems to end. Personally, I'm sure there are many that will say they should simply take him out back and be done with him. As for him having a firearm at all, yes he is a convicted felon. Therefore by law, by law, he is not allowed to have a firearm. However as already stated here there are many ways he could have gotten it. Perhaps he had it for many years before he was even convicted of his previous case, may never know.

Every single day in this country, day in, day out, there are horrible violent crimes. Mothers, daughters, raped, tortured, mutilated, murdered. Some of the cases make you wretch. Yet Katie Couric never mentions them, Brian Williams doesn't cover them, Charlie Gibbs passes over them. The New York Times never covers them. They garner no national media let alone INTERNATIONAL media attention. Why is this single case, above the horrific murders with torture and mutilation, getting this media blitz, WORLDWIDE? Why is that? Inquiring minds want to know.

I do think he was trying for martyr status in this situation. If convicted and sent to prison, being housed in protective custody seems likely. Do criminals convicted of a crime in Washington D.C. go to Federal or State penitentiary? As to why this is getting coverage, this was an attempt to attack museum patrons attending a comemoration of Anne Frank's 80th birthday by a holocaust denying anti semite with a long criminal record. That is newsworthy everywhere but FauxNews.

I don't care who's "more moderate than thou." 1) the guy has been officially designated a domestic terrorist. 2) his connection to the republicans has been established. 3) He seems to have been working alone, but the authorities are still investigating his internet connections. 4) This won't be the last. We're only six months into the first four years. The GOP-pods are out there, and they are taking their orders from the most extreme elements of the republican party. And they are preaching hate and violence. 5) Vote to end extremisim. Vote Democratic.
