Two Oklahoma State Troopers pulling over an ambulance enroute to a hospital with a patient because they felt the paramedics didn't respect their "author-a-tie."  One actually grabs a paramedic around the neck; they then leave without making an arrest.  It's good the poor woman being taken to the hospital wasn't dying.  But she could have been.

CNN reported that the officer "accepted" administrative leave, and they finally released the dashcam footage which showed the police acting like thugs just like the cell-cam footage showed.  Typical power hungry thugs hiding behind badges.

Just incredible.

Absolutely horrifying.

Maybe we should post all the news stories about criminals and how they disrespect ALL people as they commit crimes

GreedyTop -> RE: Oklahoma Cops Attack Paramedics (6/13/2009 5:17:04 PM)

*applauds Barely*

ShaharThorne -> RE: Oklahoma Cops Attack Paramedics (6/13/2009 5:23:26 PM)

What? Are you TRYING to cause a server crash? It can't handle that many posts!

Thing is, people who have "power issues" for lack of better term... all will power trip, no matter what the job. Imitation is part of the game.

I agree, too many of those types do get cop jobs.

Swear to God, ya get in situation w/ someone like that and the twlight zone music runs amuck in the background!

You know, the funny thing about this thread is that it flies directly in the face of the OP's repeated mention of the "Blue wall of silence" or whatever he called it, claiming cops don't get in trouble. Yet...here we have one that DID get in trouble. I love it when people shoot holes in their own argument. Don't you?

He didn't get in trouble.  He's on PAID administrative leave.  He's on a paid vacation.  He's not going to lose his job.

He didn't get in trouble *yet*. The incident is still being investigated. And what you call a "vacation" still got the cop off the street while the investigation is conducted. Meanwhile, where's this blue wall of silence? The OHP are the ones who released the video to the media. Silence my ass.

Cops hate bad cops as much as they do criminals because it ruins the image for the whole department. Why do you think there's an Internal Affairs Division? It's cops policing other cops.

barelynangel -> RE: Oklahoma Cops Attack Paramedics (6/13/2009 5:38:33 PM)

grins at Loki -- we'd never get to talk about anything else if people actually started posting about CRIMINALS and all the crimes that occur against people which create more victims than cops who take advantage of their badge will ever do, so its easier to say ohhhh look what what less than .25% of cops do.

Sometimes people just try to hard because its easier to say ohhh lookie than say well open your eyes and see what is happening right in front of you on the streets every DAY with simply people and what is advocated and how these people should be given pats on the head,  not every now and again when someone shows they aren't worthy of wearing a badge.

It amazes me that some people think people advocate BAD cops simply because they advocate cops as a whole because the majority of them aren't bad cops.  But its easier to generalize instead of seeing the actual statistics because then you can say well criminals shouldn't be held responsible.  The problem is when a cop is bad its just not that cop that gets labeled its a whole force that has to refight for the respect of people beause its easier to make them all bad, instead of seeing the reality of the situation.

People like to point out the rare times when a bad cop gets through the weeding out process because they think it validates their criminal actions. "See? See? Even the cops are bad, you shouldn't be throwing me in jail....the cops are bad too!!!"

It's logical fallacy at its finest. Just because "some" cops end up being jackasses doesn't mean they all are. An interesting thing to note in this video, is that while the cop may have been wrong in pulling over an ambulance....the medic taking a swat at the cop is what set him off. If you are pulled over by a dick...and you know he's a dick.....why give him the excuse he's looking for to be more of a dick?

When confronted with a dick, you should be as nice as possible.....for when you sue. Then you can say "See? here's where I voluntarily get on the ground with my arms out and here's his knee going into my head repeatedly.......I'd like $5 million, please."

GreedyTop -> RE: Oklahoma Cops Attack Paramedics (6/13/2009 5:45:47 PM)

so do I ... I have a pretty decent collection of patches.. LEOs and military.....

BUT

They had to release it after the young man with the cell phone posted the footage on youtube.  The guy's fellow officers didn't turn him in.  The footage has been viewed by millions of people all over the world, and the OK State Police were inundated with phone calls.  They really didn't have much of a choice.

As for the blue wall of silence; you're right, I and others are just making it up.  We're totally paranoid.  It's been revealed in hundreds of investigations in the past 50 years, but it's just a conspiracy against police officers by left wing agitators.

There is an internal affairs division in police departments because of past abuses and citizen outrage.  Now, how do street cops feel about IA?  If you say they respect them, you're naive.

Grin, I believe I agree w/ that sentiment.

Unless they kill you in the process.  $5 million won't mean much to you then.  It's a natural reaction to defend one's self from attack or to flee.
