So what are some think you do without thinking and it dawn on you that it was just was so the wrong thing to do.

After hearing about MoGa and my own broken foot here is what comes to my mind

Never tuck your leg under you when sitting, then trying to get up to think you can walk
Totally asleep and dead feet just flat dont work...its a guarantee you will go down hard, causing injury to said foot by breaking it or at the vey least leaving you with a bag sprain.

when crushing nuts in a baggie by hitting them with a hammer...remember not to hold the bag in your hand when you wack it [8|]

yes, i did this...and yes, it hurt

True Stories:

1996:
I worked midnights, was up all night and half the next day. I decided to go out and get gas, before the prices went up. I pulled into the gas station, got out and put the nozzel in my tank. Then I read "Must pay first" so I went in, stood in line for 10 minutes while the girl changed the register tape. I went back outside, got into my car and put it in first, proceding to drive away. I felt a pull and realized, not only had I forgotten to get gas (which is what I was there for) but I also forgot to remove the nozzel. Fuel was shooting all over the place! Never go out to get gas or anything, when you havent slept in 38 hours.

2006:
I want to blame this on my anurism, but I have to say that a true blonde, can not hide that fact! lol I went through the Burger King drive through for breakfast. Ordered my meal, got to the first window, paid for my meal and then drove right past the pick up window. I forgot to get my food. Holy Moly! I was so embarrassed when I had to drive back around to get my already paid for food.

I think that both of these stories may belong on a "Most embarssing moments" thread. [8|]

[8|] MoGa [8|]

Never try to balance a 12 pack of soda in each hand, and try to walk fast

i did something similar and have no aneurysm to blame it on.

I was going through one of those self checkout lines in Walmart with over 100.00 worth of groceries. I got the total, paid for the stuff, and left.

I left the unbagged groceries there and walked out empty handed. When i got home i opened the trunk and cussed.

The Walmart employees were polite enough not to laugh when i picked the stuff up a few hours later....

An oscilloscope is a piece of electronic troubleshooting equipment that is essentially a TV (television, not transvestite) that gets its input from an electronic signal instead of a tuner....

I was fourteen, and working with an o-scope that had a crooked display.  I knew that the correct way to fix it was to take the back off, turn it off, adjust the display, turn it back on, see how close I had gotten, and repeat.  Repeat a LOT of times.

I decided to save some time by adjusting it while the power was live and got 5000 volts through my left hand.  My arm contracted instantly and my hand hit my chest as it did.

I was barefoot.  My mother had recently mopped the floor and it had just dried fifteen minutes before... If it hadn't dried, I would have had a path through my heart...

i was drying my hair(most of youse know its very long), kids were fighting , i turned the hair blower away as i turned and a hank of hair got sucked in by the fan . my hair burned . it wasnt a pretty sight. i dont think my kids ever fought withing hearing distance of me again.

Ive caught my hair in bus doors and car doors..... not pleasant or smart
Dont think that the light bulb holder is the cause of of a non lit bulb and stick your finger in the socket without turning the power off first.

Stopping people on the street in Manchester and asking them where the nearest London Underground station is.

Never hop a slow moving freight train, because eventually it's going to pick up speed.

angelikaJ -> RE: Obvious things never to do (6/15/2009 7:31:03 AM)

The only time I ever fell from untied shoe laces was when I closed them in a door.
(This happened twice)

summer 1988:
Driving to a friend's summer house.  I was really sweaty and I was bent over to dry the underside of my hair in a public restroom.  In a split second my hair got caught and it yanked my head up so hard and with such  force that when it hit I thought I would lose consciousness.  Of course I never admitted that to my friends. lol
I had to yank my hair out of there really hard and ripped a chunk right off.  *shudders*

Termyn8or -> RE: Obvious things never to do (6/15/2009 11:04:24 AM)

Just so Steven doesn't feel alone with his sillyscope, more than once I have done this. An EPROM is a non volitiale meory devide and is used among other things to store setup parameters in electronic equipment. Sometimes the data gets corrupt and the system does not allow for a software fix, so with the low cost the EPROM is replaced many times.

When first turned on the device exhibits certain behavior because of being set to factory initial values. You expect to see this when you plug it in and tun it on. OOPS, never unplugged it ! I solder pretty well, and being aware that there could be charged caps in the circuit I try to be neat and not short things out. At least twice I have changed EPROMs and THEN realized that I need to unplug the unit for it to load the default values into RAM.

This is not the scariest of it though, in a TV there are video outputs which are fed by about a 230V source. I changed one with the set running. I expected to roll around to the front and turn it on, but it was already running.

After lunch I will probably be able to bust out of the electronics field and bring many more "Ummmmmm, better not"s. My life is so full of them I don't know where to start. I mean if one learns by one's mistakes that explains me being the smartest MF in the world :-)

Never split wood in bare feet. Done that when I was a teenager and as I swung down with the axe, it glanced off the side of the chunk of maple and tore off a piece of skin on the ankle. This was after the parental unit yelled at me to wear shoes.

Set a huge pile of tree limbs on fire in the middle of a drought on a windy day.

SavageFaerie -> RE: Obvious things never to do (6/15/2009 4:43:21 PM)

Oh I can relate to that one Level.

The daughter b/f did that and it kinda crossed the dry gulch to the wooded area behind the house.

LOL he swears it wasnt him.

Level -> RE: Obvious things never to do (6/15/2009 4:47:21 PM)

Mine stopped about 2 feet away from my still unburied telephone line [:)]
