ORIGINAL: Steponme73 My all time favorite car I have ever owned was a 64 GTO, 2 dr hardtop. It had a 389, tri-power, with a 4 speed. The serial number was 008. It was such a cool car. Dark metallic blue, black interior. The main problem with it was the tri-power. So hard to keep tuned. But when it was, damn would it go! I didn't think anyone else ever owned one of these...lol. I had the same "animal" in high school, I have no clue what the serial number was however. Changed the vacuum operated factory tri-power linkage to mechanical linkage from Mr. Gasket, which solved some of the; cough, spit, spit issues with the carb setup. Mine was a cream color, sort of a dirty white, with black interior. One of the coolest things about it was the factory reverb unit, which was actually mounted in the trunk (which by the way was big enough to hide a body in). You could turn the radio on and kick in the reverb, no one riding could resist laughing at "and now for the news, news, news, news. I have to admit however, these were not exactly the best handling of beasts, it kind of cornered like a log wagon, but in a straight line it would fly, once you got past the, free style tire burning event, takeoff. I also learned what GTO stood for with this car as well. GAS, TIRES and OIL! I ended up selling mine, with the clutch trashed and the brakes shot, for $200 when I went in the Air Force in 1973. Damnit, I'd like to have that one back. My 2nd favorite by far however was the only convertible I have ever owned, a 1967 Barracuda convertible. It had like a 273 cid V8 with a 4 Barrel and automatic, wasn't the fastest thing on the road but certainly looked like it was. I put some aluminum slots on her with G 60s on the back...it had the LOOK. Bought it for $267 (it was an ad for best offer and I saw the paper laying on the guys table), drove it for about 3 or 4 years and then sold it for a couple hundred bucks, when I decided to buy a Vega with a 350 in it. OK..I have had too many toys, I need to get off this thread NOW....lol.
