On an earth where not everyone is as upstanding as we are.
The predators live among us, and I'm not willing to give my health or life to any of them.
Unfortunately, no matter how we feel about anyone's ability to protect us, there are often times when the duty of protection is placed squarely upon our own selves.
And it would be a neglect of that duty to fail to take proper precautions.

I'm kind of interesting - I'm tall , so I find I can be taller than some men out there. However, most men have a hardness to their muscles that I lack , that makes them usually win in a wrestling match. I usually lift the groceries home with my long strong bones :)

I don't personally feel that need, but I wouldn't own one at all, for target shooting, unless I were a lot more skilled than I currently am. Otherwise, it would be a waste of money. A lot of people do feel safer with them, for various reasons. Anyway, they're certainly not something I'd use in BDSM, or allow to be used on me!

Apparently your corner of this earth is a lot less appealing than mine. Any one of the towns near my farm, I would not hesitate to walk alone, anytime day or night. Aside from a few troublesome neighbourhoods, even our large towns or small cities.

Actually, my little corner of the world is a Heinlein-esque polite society.
The sheep have teeth, and the wolves respect that.  So, even the folks who choose not to be armed reap the benefits brought about by those of us who do.
Now, when I am out of my element, in areas that are not like mine, I am 100% dilligent about remaining armed, as I don't know if I can count on that herd immunity.

Sad, but true, LaT.  Such places exist.

When I lived in Colorado Springs, I rarely, if ever feared going out at night.  It was nothing for Me to shop at 3:00 AM.  Going for a walk in My neighborhood never gave Me pause.

Upon moving to GA, I admit, that changed.  The habits that I used to have, I no longer felt safe executing.  When the Sheriff's department literally has to have sub stations in local stores, there is an issue.

It's out there, LaT.  A shame, yes, but it's out there.

I can't remember the last time I locked the front door. I do hassle the kids about leaving the garage open because I worry about skunks sheltering in there.

The only gun I've considered buying would have rubber bullets because you can't shoot a bear with anything else until after it's broken into the house. And personally I don't want it inside.

Oh yeah, I'm within two hours of Manhattan.

By the original post's rationale, humans should submit to horses.

Pretty much any big city, the woods where wild animals live...What is YOUR method of self defense?  just hoping that nothing bad ever happens/

I personally agree with tiger, a person doesn't NEED to carry a gun to be safe. A gun is giving you false security that's mostly all there is to it.

My two feet, brains, common sense and probably a dash of luck has worked fine for me so far...no matter where I've been.

I live in the country with packs of carnivores. I go hiking without a gun.

I used to live in a city. I never walked around with a gun.

Don't get me wrong, I am not rabidly anti-gun. I have several locked away somewhere in my house. I simply feel they are a false sense of security MOST of the time.

I would rather be educated and conduct myself according to my surroundings, negating the need for a gun in the first place.

I have found that MOST people are killed, not by some random pack of rabid coyotes, or or a bear, but by their own stupidity. A gun not locked away that gets picked up and used by the wrong person. A 23 yo couple riding a motorcycle without helmets that hits a deer on the freeway. A drunk 19yo that mouthed off to the wrong person and got his head bashed into the pavement. A young woman that got stabbed and killed by another woman, over a guy.

I don't think a gun would save a person from most things that end up killing people. In fact, flashing a gun at someone with a gun, will very likely end up in one of the two getting shot. I don't like those 50/50 odds myself. I would rather not create that situation.

I am not worried.

I saw the OP's words as touching not only on the physical, but mental as well, hence the line, sure, he could "make me" do something, if he were so inclined, but that has nothing to do with consensual D/s. I did mention horses, though!

I believe the Roman Senate had to do that once.

As long as he's strong enough to carry my toy cases, I dont require a great deal more

I'm not physically imposing and I struggle to carry my groceries. In the moments when it counts, however, I'm the strongest force in the room. All it takes is a whisper in the ear and I can move 200 lbs with no problem.

Horse owners do. Who is shoveling whose shit? Who is getting whom water? Plus we buy him two pairs of shoes at a time, I don't get two new pairs every month to six weeks.

True that.

I am currently working. If I know my two knuckle heads, they are standing under their favourite oak tree napping.
