It really must be a slow summer on TV and outside entertainments. Seems like the wanker posts, here and in the Submissive forum, are running high this year. Something that just struck me is that part of the problem here might be the language we use, in combination with the perceived "oversupply" of male subs and some effect from the whole pro-domme culture. The way male submission is represented makes a femdom relationship sound like an impossible fantasy. We're sold the idea that men pay for women to do things to them, and who want nothing to do with them beyond that. No intimacy...nothing. The reality of course is that bdsm is incredibly intimate, and for most people getting that intimacy requires some relationship building. When a new guy comes into the mix he gets asked, "What will you do for me?". I don't know about you, but taken by itself that sounds very transactional. My impression is that usually the question really means something along the lines of "What is interesting about you?". Put that together with the misconceptions about what a male sub is and what his social options are and it isn't a surprise that right out of the gate the two are failing to communicate. "I'll let you spank me" might just be a ham fisted way of saying he wants to have that intimacy with someone who really wants to do it with him, and not just because he paid for it in some way. Maybe I give people too much credit, but I think there really are a lot of guys who are supposedly wankers that really just think they aren't allowed or to be anything more than a worthless piece of ass. Heck if I have any ideas about how to start changing that though.
