fucking honestly. can we stop the drugs and sex stuff and start testing some of those rape kits that have been lying around since the 90's?

Status: offline 		Setting aside whether or not prostitution *should* be legal or not, requesting money is against the rules on this specific site, and doing things that legally count as prostitution can get you jailed if you're caught. It's up to you whether or not to take that kind of risk. I think there's a huge difference between someone treating someone to dinner, or even getting them little gifts, within a dating relationship, and explicitly requiring payment or expensive barter items in exchange for specific sexual activities between two people who aren't dating.

Status: offline 		Complex issue we'll never quite resolve ... but technically ... prostitution is money for JUST sex (nothing more).

So, for example, if JUST sex is involved along with something of value in exchange, then it IS (technically) prostitution.

The rub comes in defining JUST. For example, paying a woman to fuck so that you can sell a videotape is not prostitution; otherwise all porn stars would be in jail. Paying a woman to act out a submissive scene for you where sex isn't involved (of course, depends on their definition of sex), is not prostitution. Paying a woman to fuck someone in front of your camera to sell the resulting pictures is not prostitution.

So, we have to ask: Is JUST sex involved when you ask your question?

Almost everything we discuss and do is technically ILLEGAL.

So who gives a shit what others do. As long as people are in somewhat sound mind make the bargain, I just don't care.

It's when people take advantage of each other or of a person's circumstances, that I get upset.

That is where I have drawn my moral line and I'm fine living with it.

Status: offline 		Well the way that I see it, people have sex to get "something" out of it. Whether its money, tribute , an orgasm, sometimes a disease, a baby, or just the thrill of it. So I guess yes we are all prostitutes. Now can we legalize it and tax it?

Status: offline 		I would say yes, accepting money and goods for sexual interactions/sexual favors, is prostitution, by it's very definition.   I am not passing judgement on prostitution however, just calling it the way I see it.   

Feeling enjoyment during sex isn't prostitution, so I can't say "we" are all prostitutes because we get something out of it.  It's only prostitution if the act is performed specifically for money or merchandise.

Ask yourselves, how many women out there would stay married to their husbands for very long if the hapless fellow decided one day that he was sick of working and wanted to just loaf around the house like a teenager for several years. Meanwhile his wife needs to be the sole breadwinner and bring home the bacon. Once the wife realizes that he's serious and this isn't a "phase" he'll shake out of, I guarantee 97% of the time she is out of there!

Some agree for one or the other to stay at home, to take care of the kids, or because one has a chronic illness or disability or whatever, but most families need two incomes to cover their expenses. Either of them just deciding to be lazy isn't acceptable.

OK, so let's take the question a step further.  This is especially geared toward those 'all play is sexual' folks.

For debate's sake, let's say we have two professional submissives.  In one case, she absolutely offers the full menu for a price.  Vaginal sex, blow jobs, or pick your poison.  The guy gets to shoot his load, she gets paid and both are happy.  (Oh, and then he comes to discussion boards to call her 'his' submissive.  Had to throw that one in for mal.)  Yes, I'd agree.  That is prostitution.

In the other case, no sexual release is offered in a session.  She allows all kind of pain to be inflicted on her by the client, but his release is not a part of the deal.  Yet, she engaged in said scene, which by some people's standards is sex, even if no physical sex exists.  Is that prostitution?

I think that is probably the more interesting question.
