Bono... well.. any of U2 or Aerosmith... B.B. King or Clapton also.  Would make me one sad katt.

Otherwise, The Queen Mother, Jim Henson, Mr. Rogers, Julia Child... they're already gone :(

Right now it would be Obama, I would mourn his  death because he is a human being but mostly I would mourn the possibility for change and the hope for a different world that I think would die with him.

The only time I have ever mourned a celebrity was by default, I was a young child when Kennedy was killed, and to this day I remember being sent home from school and I remember my mothers tears.

It is not about the person, because we don't know them, but rather what he or she represents to us, and they are but actors on a stage, but sometimes we cannot help but project our hopes and dreams and onto them.

Nicolas Cage, William Shatner and or Lenord Nimoy

Agree with Obama.  Add Paul Reubens (Pee Wee Herman).  Hey, I have my priorities!

Viridana -> RE: What celebrity death would rock your world? (6/29/2009 5:08:59 PM)

No celebrity has had such influence on me that my world would be rocked. If I absoloutely had to pick one that probably would affect me most, then it would be Terry Pratchett, which would of course mean the end of Discworld as we know it.

slaveluci -> RE: What celebrity death would rock your world? (6/29/2009 6:32:10 PM)

As others have said, I'm not sure any have rocked or would rock my world, but I truly mourned Dale Earnhardt and Johnny and June Carter Cash. I almost felt as if I knew them and it saddened me to lose them.

I'm still mourning David Carradine and will be sad when these folks pass on:

James Lee Burke
Willie Nelson (never knew he was considered a "douchebag," Steel)
Kris Kristofferson
Hank Williams III
Billy Joe Shaver
Merle Haggard
Eric Clapton

and many others I can't think of right now...................luci

For Me, it would be either Tom Hanks or John Travolta.

Who would it be for you?

sleazybutterfly -> RE: What celebrity death would rock your world? (6/29/2009 6:59:36 PM)

George Strait...I think I would probably cry for this one, and possibly Jane Russell.

My world would go on, no doubt....but I would miss his music a lot and how his songs touch me...and Jane, well, she is just my last connection to a time I wish I had lived in.

greenearth21 -> RE: What celebrity death would rock your world? (6/29/2009 7:48:39 PM)

Dave Mathews.  Anderson Cooper (yuh...i know but he certainly does keep my mind entertained.  A LOT) but more Dave just because ...he is a very down to earth man, makes awesome music...cant dance worth a hoot and does a lot of good as far as hands on in different organisations. Going to dmb concerts have been a ritual of mine every year for the last 11 years.

Crush -> RE: What celebrity death would rock your world? (6/29/2009 9:45:40 PM)

No celeb deaths would darken my week.  Several would be missed, but none that would cause me to take a day off work to grieve.

My dogs, maybe.  My wife or kids or other family, definitely.

(My ex, well...that'd be cause for celebration, not grief.)

yay Tull fans!

of course, SlaveB4Y had to open that "Dark Door",  and of course, having illustrated such for 20 years, I MUST add embellishment...

Paris obviously, for the sake of anti-bulemia/anorexia/bimbojimbobullshit

and I'd like Dworkin to come back from the Dead just so she could die AGAIN.

(yeah, I know, the Marion Zimmer Bradley fans are gonna come after me, but what the hell...)

Oh, PLEASE, somebody convince Michael Bay, the Farrelly Brothers, Apatow and every wannabe David Lynch parasitic loser-ass "can't come up with my own cinematic style because I'm a lazy Gen Y cultural tapeworm" to get together and re-enact the last Hurrah of River Phoenix.

Adn for any Gen Y "auteur" that gets pissed off at that, Lynch ripped off Bergman, so BEND OVER AND TAKE IT while I use jalapeno juice for lube, pseudo filmic bitchboys.

Yeah,passion.

double edged sword.

but always as sharp a blade as Ron Popeel and those Shopping Networks promised us at 3 AM...

Before I even saw your post, this was my immediate response to the question.  I have never really been bent out of shape by a celebrity death, save for one.  Sesame Street was still a young show when I was born, and I feel it, and the Muppet Show, were incredible highlights of my childhood and since.  When he died, the voice of Kermit died too, which is perhaps why many of us felt so warmly toward him.

I just don't see that any other celebrity could matter as much to me.

I love music, I love the movies...but these artists are not my familiars, so I may have a reverence and fond nostaligia, but am just not going to be all that moved by a celebrity dying.

**I am an Idiot I mis read the post but I think the info should still be shared.**

Jim Henson is already dead.

He Died in 1990 at the age of 53 >>Click for Wiki<<

Stephen Lynch (Who I would be Pissed if died) wrote a song in Memoriam I LOVE the song.

>>Click For Song<< No he doesn't make fun of Jim it is a very Touching Song.

I 9 when I was told that Jim Henson Died Took my mom THREE days to convince me that Kermit would Still Be on TV and that Jim Henson was justr Kermits Friend, at 9 I knew that Jim WAS Kermit.

I will Miss the Mastery that was Jim Henson, His Companies Productions have yet to come close to his Brilliance.

Yeah, Henson fucked me up when I heard.

I'm dreading the demise of Alice Cooper / Vince Furnier as well.

Lol, thought I was the only one that loves him. His are probably the best concerts I have been to. I last saw him at the Hard Rock in Vegas which was fantastic.

GreedyTop -> RE: What celebrity death would rock your world? (6/29/2009 11:38:42 PM)

I've been to two of his concerts, and still havent seen him perform.. *sigh*  First time, I ended up passed out in one of the equipment trucks, second time I forget what happened.. but I totally missed the show...
