Status: offline 		I don't know why "we" obey since I don't know anyone else and am not part of any larger community of people who obey.  I know why I obey. 

I obey because to not obey would sned my spirit into such a stomach-knotting ball of unease that I would be nearly sick.  I don't obey out of any fear, I obey because I am pretty much hard-wired to obedience.  I also would hate to see a look of disappointment on my Master's face.

Maybe I'm missing something but wanting to make another happy, avoiding punishment, being hardwired to do it as a personality component...it all comes down to just plain wanting to do it.

Good question. The explanations for obedience form a very large part of social psychological research and literature.
However I feel that the reasons why we (as slaves, submissives) obey is precominantly individualistic psychology and not socail. Although there are huge difficulties, of course, in separating out the environmental (nirture) elemant of why we are like we are and the individually innate (nature0 element, I don;t want to get into a nature/nurture debate here either.
All I can say with any surety is my personal opinion of why others obey but even that's ad hoc.
So going to stick with my experiences.
So:
because i was sexually initiated at a very younf age and core memories are built around erotic/seualised submission
because it strips me of the power and responsibility i need to weild in the world outside of submission
because it pleases the other who makes me, controls me, gets off on my obedience
because i dislike the repremands and the negative feedback in personal relationship when i do not or fail to obey deeply enough
because i am chemically attracted to male dominats who desire my obedience
because there is a very fine line between being obedient that feels comfortable and obedience that feels distinctly painful or emotionally unconfortable and i like to explore that edge
because having consented to being odedient it is a test of strength and rsiliance to explore the edges of my limits
if i have stated no limits then my arousal within that acts/acts of obedience is heightened
becuase it creates a mindset all of its poown
because it brings me release
because it's a tool of attraction and ultimately can get me spome or part or all of what i want

Thank you! Reading through the boards, journals and profiles I was beginning to feel like just doing this because it's fun and you want to was somehow...not usual. Or something like that. My brain feels a little scrambled so I'm not sure if that makes sense...

Well sure it's fun lol. The other thing I was getting at was even if you are looking at it in a more serious way from the standpoint of being compelled from other various personality components it still comes down to the basic level of wanting to do it. It just seems as though whatever someone's dark and twisted (or simple and joyful) reasons are for obeying another person it would need to come first of all from the standpoint of wanting to do it.
