"I wasn't aware, in all My yrs in the lifestyle, that submissives were so chosey, till the newer, less respectful generation came along"....This is a part of an e-mail i received today. I am so confused. Is it not up to me be picky in choosing the One i submit to?

While granted back in the day of buying slaves on the block.. they had no choice as to who bought them.. and who they served...

Yes todays more open.. more willingness to serve versus being sold into slavery against ones will.... they do have the choice of whom they are going to serve. It's got nothing to do with being branded... less respectful generation.

It's absolutely up to you! No need to worry about what anyone else thinks, you submit to whom you choose in your own good time and within the parameters which 'you' set. Anyone who doesn't like it, or thinks you have to submit to them just because you are a submissive and they are a dominant is fairly clueless and has poor social skills. You keep on searching for what 'you' want and let the naysayers keep naysaying to someone else. The 'block' button is a wonderful tool. :)

Good luck and welcome to the boards.

Whilst I can look out of the window at todays society and find many reasons to agree with the lable "Less respectful generation" I find nothing in your attitude to warrent it there.

Todays world is even more full of users, abusers and gameplayers (Maybe not in numbers but with the internet they have a greater range) than ever before and it is only right that subs, and indeed Doms be ever more picky and careful in their selections.

If I'm super picky about the produce I buy at the supermarket
then you can bet your ass that I'm going to be picky about
choosing someone who is going to dominate me.

Every generation is less repsectful than the past.

By the time my great grandkids are born we'll all be slapping each other rather than saying hello.

Yes, it is. There is a Domina here whom i greatly respect, and She advised that a slave should make this decision VERY carefully. That makes perfect sense to this one. Especially since once the decision to submit is made and offered, and the slave is accepted/claimed it is likely the last important decision one will make independently for a long while.

Hmmmm... a submissive being picky who he or she or submits too... what on earth is disrespectful in that? I'd rather say there's a generation with a lot of self-respect here, and right they are.

Not to mention aileen is choosy about the WORDS one uses. She wouldn't like 'chosey' at all.

trusub makes a good point: Without an auction block, the choice of whom you commit to IS up to you.

Don't fret: The dominant was probably frustrated and snapped at you. I don't think in this lifestyle that anyone is any ruder (or less so) than any other generation. Of course (modestly polishing knuckles on velvet waistcoat), everyone loves me so I never have that problem.

Freedom of choice became an issue when?

Today with so many predators, wannakers and wannabes, submissives better be selective.

Let me guess, either you said no to that person, or a lot of other people have and they are bitter about it. This is a good time to use the block feature in your email.

The bottom line is that not being choosy, leads to horror stories. Who you will give yourself to is your choice. Your choice, not theirs. Submission requires absolute trust in the person whose collar you wear. Not everyone is someone that a particular individual can trust in that way.

Until the day you are collared and owned, you are your own person, and you have the right to choose. You have the right to say 'no'. And if it makes people bitter, becaue they expect that all subs will offer their necks to be collared on the mere sight of them, then they need to get on the clue train, because the world just doesn't work that way.

I don't think anyone who was serious would complain. Thoses looking for a quick kinky lay, on the other hand.

Be very picky!

I want a sub who wants to submit to me, one who is inspired to submit by me, who really feels a connection. I also want to feel the connection. That is what can make it so special to me.

There was a time when the semi mythical "Old Guard" were nothing more than a pesky bunch of young upstarts with no respect whatsoever for tradition...

Be as picky as you can. A good match outlasts a unstudied one every time.
