I'm sure "everyone's answer will be different".

Just curious about how people view mundane chores like this within the context of their relationships.

Hi Jeptha
When I am at Sir's house, I do the dishes, though there had been  a few times, he will tell me to relax, he is doing them.

We both do. He's rather do some of the chores and have my attention than have me there focused on something else.

Depends. If he's working on something else, I do it all. If I'm not feeling well, he'll do it all. Usually I put away the food while he rinses plates before putting them in the dishwasher. I clean counters while he does the few pots I didn't clean as I cooked.

I do all the cooking except for grilling. I can't grill and not burn stuff inside at the same time or else the inside stuff gets done and the grilled food burns. I simply can't be in and out at the same time.

Chores are not done by anyone, they get done by magic.  The house can be a mess when I go to bed, but is is neat and tidy before I come down stairs in the morning.  There is no way a normal person would do all that work, and still look like a goddess by 6am...so it must be magic.

Since there isn't an s-type in the house and it's just me and the vanilla male, it tends to be pretty 50/50 as far as dishes. I do most of the cooking, when I am in the mood, because I love to cook. He does a larger percentage of the house cleaning because he seems to enjoy it, sick mofo that he is. I usually do the bulk of the laundry because I am picky about it. He does the bulk of the mowing but I take care of the gardens and horse stuff. Big projects we tend to either work together on or fight over. I usually take care of most of the car stuff because he hates it and never pays attention to needed maintainance. Yet house maintainance is up for grabs, this morning he was up on the roof doing repairs but I did some flooring repair last week.

we both do. it's that give and take sort of thing. if i had a partner that was opposed to chores i would hope he's planning on hiring a domestic.

He does most of the outside stuff and I do most of the inside tasks.  If I'm home then I'll do the cooking/grilling.  I wouldn't mind the company but he refuses to go grocery shopping (well, really any kind of shopping) with me.  I like to take my time through the aisles and he's more of a 'get the one thing you need and leave' kind of guy..

On a meal-to-meal basis, each of us washes up our own dishes, and when we don't have servants around, of course, the free members in the household do the dishes.

For a long while, our "apples"* were responsible for KP. We believe that teaching ones apples to contribute to their household is vital to their development. On Saturdays, when we have 'Farm, Market, and Cooking day' the servant(s) and apples are responsible for handling prep, observing during preparation/storage, and handle clean-up. (Of course, on Saturdays we also do things like making cheese, cooking basic entrees in bulk, baking (especially because we do grain-less baking, which tends to be a little more labor, and dish, intensive), and preserving locally-obtained foods for a rainy day).

Dame Calla.

*From the phrase "The apple does not fall far from the tree."

Yeah, we share chores.  Before I started working, I did most the chores since I had the time, and he was away at work for long 40 hour plus stretches, but now that I'm working, and he's recently retired, he does most the picking up, and daily stuff.  I cook on my days off and do dishes or something in the middle of the day, on days I'm working (I work split shift.)  He usually has something in mind for me to do when I'm home in the middle of the day.  He decides what needs doing unless its really bugging me then I'll let him know I'm planning to do it in case he doesn't want me to.  I usually present my intentions in advance (though if its little stuff like a sink full of dishes, or the garbage needs to be taken down and I'm not doing anything I'll just do it because life has to get done) so he can redirect me if he wants.  If its something big, I ask for his ok.  I figure its up to him to decide how I spend my time.

Funny but that pretty much happens in this house too. According to Master we have a dishwasher fairy, a washing fairy, an ironing fairy and a cleaning fairy. They always seem to be on strike or in hiding whenever I am around though.

In MY home, everyone is in the kitchen as dinner is prepared at 6PM EST SHARP- no exceptions---everyone has a chore, whoever cooks doesn't clean up---everyday I have a chore chart, though I have a dishwasher, someone has to scrape etc--we have a real "life" not a lifestyle.
