But I've never been a huge fan of movies developed from popular books....they tend to get ruined by whomever it is that makes them. Sometimes, poetic license sucks! "Knowing" was one of the biggest pieces of shit that I've ever wasted money on [:'(]

kind of. it was BADLY cgi animated and ended up looking like a sell-out Game more than a movie. The VO actors, however, did BRILLIANT;Y considering Neil "phoned it in".

heh! HolHols be funny! in other news... I rewatched 81/2 weeks yesterday, and I have to say, it STILL really holds up, but to be fair, unless you actually get into the process of shooting film, it might not hold your interest. Oddly though, these days, with the world so weird now? it's less surrealist than I remember it being.

*I just got back from I Love You, Beth Cooper. Solid enough flick, some laughs scattered throughout, I've always been a sucker for those "last days of High School" sort of movies.* Seeing just a little of Hayden Panettiere's delicious little body doesn't hurt, either.

I saw Zombieland last week, it was good, and The Invention of Lying, which stank. Going to go see I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell, as well as Couples Retreat this weekend.

I saw the new Michael Moore movie a coupla days ago, 'Capitalism: A Love Story', one of my offspring took me . . . .. Loved it, but I like Michael Moore movies . . .. . Gonna go see it again with the other offspring . .. . .

Moore serves a purpose, but I used to like him more than I do now. He sometimes veers into "truthiness" land [:D]

recently, Funnyman, a '94 "horror" film which was kinda what happens when you give a Brit some budget for drugs and tell him to do a Brit version of Charles Band/Tromaville. meaning it was rather funny, har har! Layer Cake, which was far more entertaining than I expected and was also often funny and for the most part, charming, and I'm not a big fan of the "Guy Ritchie" subgenre so very happily surprised... Big Fish... for me, I think it really helped that Burton did not get to write this, and thus it was better than half of his films, truly sweet. But the good run had to end, in bloody train wreck fashion, with Angels and Demons... Oh, the suckage, the suckage... a bleeding anal wart of a film. The left out nearly a third of the stuff that made the book fun. It should be used in a filmschool class called "How NOT to make an Adaption of a Novel". I feel like Ron Howard snuck into my garden and took a shit on my peonies.

lol, damn that Opie. I saw Couples Retreat on Saturday, it was decent, had some laughs. Was going to see I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell yesterday, but ended up at a casino in Louisiana instead [:)]

hah, speaking of which, I was watching the first 1960's Casino Royale with Niven, Peter Sellers and Woody Allen 3 days ago! Still holds up (of course I love 60's kitch... Avengers TV show, man, STILL 4 star entertainment...)

I saw Paranormal Activity this weekend. For a movie that cost a whopping eleven grand to make, it was pretty good. Without giving anything away, even though I enjoyed the ending, one of the alternate ones would have worked better, ie, been creepier. Bonus film tidbit: In the movie Say Anything, director Cameron Crowe almost used Billy Idol's "To Be A Lover", instead of Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes", for the boom box scene.
