Appaloosa:  you like Westerns?  You like Viggo Mortenson?  You like Ed Harris?  You like Rene Zelwigger?  You like Lance Henrikson? You like "accuracy"?  SEE THIS FILM.

Mirrors:  okay, it ain't THAT great, but compaired to Blair Witch it's a fucking MANIFESTO.  And I like Keifer, dammit, and he TRIES in this, he does NOT "phone it in"...

more later...

Yee-haw! I'll check it out on video . . . . (I can't do scary movies in the theater . . . )

Microbudgets (relative to the grandiosity that has long characterized such) is the big revolutionary wave of the future in film-making . . .. .

I saw Paranormal Activity this weekend. For a movie that cost a whopping eleven grand to make, it was pretty good. Without giving anything away, even though I enjoyed the ending, one of the alternate ones would have worked better, ie, been creepier.

Huh. Glad to know he went with the Gabriel . . .. .

Bonus film tidbit: In the movie Say Anything, director Cameron Crowe almost used Billy Idol's "To Be A Lover", instead of Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes", for the boom box scene.

Micro-budgets are GOOD GOOD GOOD as long as the contracts are sound (meaning they do not rort the talent after the "auteur" makes a killing selling the rights to someone like Lions'Gate...)

More for Kia:

For mixed genre, with HUMOUR and horror, if you have not seen it yet (you likely have), check out Blood and Donuts...

Imagine a 90's indie version of "Yojimbo" done ala "Jesus of Montreal but the main character is a VAMPIRE.

GOLD.  pure gold...

Hiltie, I've seen Appaloosa, enjoyed it much. I'm a Robert B. Parker fan, so it immediately went on my radar, when I found out they were filming it. They're likely to do the sequel, "Resolution".

HatesParisHilton -> RE: Movie reviews (11/4/2009 8:13:14 PM)
