*hugs Angel*  I'm so sorry, honey...

My family vet (up in GA.. mom uses her) does that too..   Rox cried with us when she had to come put down Val (the dog), then sent us a lovely note, and the specialist for Simon (cat.. cancer) made a donation to a vet school in Simon's name...

OH.  MY.  FREAKING.  GOD.  As awful as this sounds, try using the laser pointer after you've given the cat catnip.......you'll pee yourself, I promise!  I also like to use it to get my kittehs dizzy......run it around in circles around said kitteh.......

I'm such an evil kitteh mommy...but I consider it payback!  Also, I have no idea why I'm looking for a dom to serve, I already have one.....KB has me wrappred around his little paw!!!!

[sm=dunno.gif]  I have weird kittehs.... catnip doesn't affect them. Punky just gets a sick look to his face when I try to tempt him with some.

Now laser pointers on the other hand....never had to teach them about those. They already knew what those were when they came here. [:)]

My sympathy for your loss. More and more Vet's are doing that.. People are acknowledging that an animal is PART of the FAMILY.

AngelEyes...i am so sorry. Remember the Rainbow Bridge. Hug.

One of my cats loves the laser pointer.  The other, who will chase ghosts, doesn't get it.  I will feed them nip first, then try the laser.

Both vets I took my dog too did that for me The dr that handled putting Sparky to sleep even had tears in her eyes  when I was told the news, and began crying myself. I cried all over again when I got the beautiful greeting card and hand written note about my doggie in the mail.

on a not really related note, i had to have my kitty put down a week ago. i just got a lovely, hand written, with kitty's name and all, note to say that they were thinking of us and they were sure we were wonderful owners who had had years of special times with said kitty.

i've never had a vet do that!

How sad. Remember the fun and the love.

That is the hardest decision an owner has to make for a pet. (( big hugs))
My vet did the same for us.

Cat litter has alot of uses. I always carry about 100 pounds in my trunk in the winter.

Before or after it was in the litter box??? [8|]

Regarding such noises...yeah, my girl is mastering that stuff....she is horrible addicted to certain treats and regularly snatches the (2) boys the treats away if they don't watch it enough. Whilst curry makes damn sure she doesn't succeed (with holding his paw on the remaining end of the treat on the floor whilst eating it) spicy is still a bit clumsy in that respect and on quite a few occassions only manages to eat half of it as by then she swings her paw and takes away what is left from him to get it.

She is so damn addicted to it that she often sits on the drawer chest where it is in usually and keeps making those damn noises that it gets so on my nerves that by now I try to avoid not to have any as she just does not stop doing it even when I don't have any of those at home. Yep, she knows that game...and me as her servant keeps ending up popping into the shop to get some more...

Regarding that mentioned vet letter, I did not experience that yet, but my vet here wrote a letter addressed to Curry and one addressed to pepper (end of this year a third one will follow for spicy) to remind "them" for their vaccination appointments and asks them kindly to ask their owner to come along with them...was quite cute how it was written...

Angel, {{{{{hugs}}}}} for you on your loss.  If you like, I can send KB to ya.....he'd have you whipped back into kitty sub shape in no time!

Phoenix, KB solved the "hopping up and down" problem all by himself.....he will open whatever container he finds goodies in......he watches me use them, figures out how to pop them open, and eats up.....that or he pushes said object off the counter to pop the top off.  When it was him and my dog, KB would get up on the fridge, or in the pantry, push the stuff down to the floor, Shiloh would rip it open, and they'd just have themselves a little pig-out party!

Dumb animals, my ass!  [8|]

Phoenixpower -> RE: For those owned by cats... (7/22/2009 1:16:45 PM)

LoL, S2s I know what you mean but in that point she has tough luck...because that drawer chest was damn expensive (one of my treats when I entered university...kind of before my student money goes off yanno...better to spend it...) and the drawer are already damn heavy for myself to open...so there she hasn't got a chance to open it as it really is heavy to open.

Otherwise I agree with you. When I do online food order and get the delivery about 200-300 pound (do that about 4 times a year to get mainly all the heavy stuff delivered home such as cat litter, 100+ cans of cat food, etc.) and drop everything fast into my hallway to get those boxes returned fast to the driver, at times she keeps opening them before I get them out of her reach...

She is really lucky that Spicy is a gentle giant otherwise she would be beaten big time by him when she nicks it away from him...Curry hisses loud which makes her to back off when she dares to even think about to go for it...but her noises to get those treats are really killing my nerves at times and then I have to buy them just to get my peace...sometimes I start to wonder what was worse...living in a house share with others or living with that tortoise-cat...[8|]

How did you ever manage to keep yours away from the computer desk? Mine actually fight with each to see who gets to lay on top of the monitor. My telling them no, the water bottle spraying them... none of that has stopped them from this.

soul2share -> RE: For those owned by cats... (7/22/2009 1:44:59 PM)

Butterfly, I solved the arguing problem by getting a flat screen monitor....however, that just made more room, so now I have one that gets in front, and one that gets in back......and I swear that KB and Squeaks knows the little blue button on the lower right corner will turn off the monitor......which happens when they don't think I'm paying enough attention to them....poor neglected critters...NOT!!!!  And Squeaks will get up on the CPU under the desk and try to grab the keyboard using the space between the tray and the desk top......I've sent out more unfinished e-mails by hitting the send button while trying to catch the keyboard!

I had more privacy when my son was little!

soul2share -> RE: For those owned by cats... (7/22/2009 1:49:36 PM)

Phoenix, whenever I bring ANYTHING into the house, it must pass inspection from the beebees......and Lord help me if I have a bag of catnip in one of the grocery bags!  They have to check out the bags to see what kind of cat food I bought, if they have any goodies, what kind of lunchmeat I bought........and if they find something they like, they just hook it on out of the bag and take off with it!   Boo tried to actually swipe a whole bag of frozen shrimp once!  He knows what the bags look like, whenever I cook any, I have to "sneak" it out of the freezer, otherwise, he's right up there waiting for it to come out of the hot water.......he'll try to grab one and run, but it's always too hot.  So, he'll wait for it to cool, and try to swipe it from the bowl while I'm eating it!  For every one I get to eat, Boo gets one too.  Little piggy!

Phoenixpower -> RE: For those owned by cats... (7/22/2009 3:09:48 PM)

Lol, as most of the time I buy the treats in the shop (and only get them 4-5 times a year during my online order) my furrys thankfully have the habbit to miss out on inspection...because most of the time when I come home from work, uni, shopping...once I open the door they run out as fast as they can...so once they are out I have every time I need to put the cat treats out of reach before I am mad enough to open my patio door so they can get in. My female cat pepper always just goes out of the front door to run around half the house to come back via the patio door again (she is scared outside when the door is shut, I assume she has had an encounter with one of the two bully cats when she was younger, so she only enjoys being outside when the door or window is open that she can come back at any time...once it is shut, she panics outside). Therefore only on the days when the delivery comes she can drive me nuts with that...by now it even got a routine that before I go to bed I take another package of their treats out of the drawer chest and feed them from my bed...yep, I guess they do own me...[8|]

bbwbutterfly -> RE: For those owned by cats... (7/22/2009 11:39:03 PM)

LOL soul2share I have to say I understand about unfinished emails and fighting for the keyboard or even the mouse. Mine like to walk across the keyboard or chase my fingers if I ignore them too long. I am only thankful that they haven't learned how to turn off my monitor. They do however step on the button on the surge protector and shut everything down once in a while. I love my babies and my life would be boring without them.

GreedyTop -> RE: For those owned by cats... (7/22/2009 11:54:47 PM)

Ok, this is just too cute :)

soul2share -> RE: For those owned by cats... (7/23/2009 10:43:25 PM)

OH. MY.GAWD!!!!!  That is ONE HUUUUUUGE kitteh!!!!!!!

But yeah, it was adorable.....I swap them out on my screen saver at work.....people come in , see some of them and just roar......of course, they are fellow kitteh slaves, so they "get" it.

soul2share -> RE: For those owned by cats... (7/23/2009 10:45:57 PM)

Butterfly. my surge protector is safe UNDER the computer desk. so I don't get shut down.  I do, however, get cut off when I'm playing a game...usually when I'm winning the stoopid thing......they just sit there and look at me......"wha???  Did I do thaaaaat?"  Rotten little beasties!
