(shrug) Perhaps she was right. Someone so petty as to make a big deal of this on a message board doesn't sound like anyone I'd want to get to know. Or who knows? Maybe she was going through something terrible in her life and just responding to that and not to you (I just got out of a death thread in this section, so awfulness is kind of on my mind).
I highly doubt it was all about you. So why are you making a big deal of this and causing drama on a message board about it? Leave the poor woman be. You wrote her months ago, you're probably in a very different place now, I imagine. Maybe even seeing someone?
I get insults from strangers frequently, too, and anger and other horrible surprises in email, but they follow a different pattern. Usually it's not from somone I wrote (maybe I pick good people to write or maybe I've been very lucky), but some totally random person who just happened to see my profile and decided to take their bad mood out on me. Besides insults or hate letters (I have a long profile, so that's usually what the random hater decides to hate about me, lol), I get men describing in loving, gloating detail doing to me the things that cause me the most extreme feelings of horror and self-hatred. (shrug) But it clearly ISN'T about me: neither the insults nor the horrifying sexual interests. It's just a person taking their bad mood out on others or a horny guy who had no idea I'd feel this way about his fetish.
So I'll add my voice to the chorus: let it go.
