Bull, I cannot speak for anyone but myself. As a person that has lived their life surrounded by military personnel I can say it is not the ABILITIES that I find ridiculous, but some of the attitudes. No one ever disrespected strength and ability. But lots of big chatter and false bravado is seen as quite ridiculous. I cannot tell you how many times I have sat with a group of men and women, dedicated to serving our country, of all branches and specialties, and heard them joke about and make fun of, strutting windbags. About how xxxwindbag almost got them all killed. Or.......the humorous, "all that big talk and when push came to shove he screamed and ran like a little girl". It is usually the big talkers that end up hiding behind those that had no need for big talk or false bravado. They simply went and did their job. I have ultimate respect for a man or woman that just IS strong. But very little to none that has to constantly remind everyone they are. Because they usually are not. Hense my reference to big talk online. People that are more than happy to talk the talk but you know as well as I do, very few actually walk the walk. If speaking that makes me some sort of blasphemy speaking, shit stirrer.........I really am good with that.

I just don't believe dismissing human nature is going to be all that productive. Look how bad the Catholic Church fucked things up promoting that brand of ideology. Your friend...

What seems to cause the biggest problems is that what is real and true, for one, or even a larger majority, is not the case for all. Those that he is not, will be annoyed or whatever at the assumption that he truly is, she is just in denial. AND, she may even be hurt, defensive and protective, of the man she loves that she sees as her ideal. Her hurt will come out in different ways, some less flattering to her than others, but still valid at it's core. If any of that made any sense at all.

Though I do have to seriously wonder what the reaction would be if one such as myself, who strongly defends my sense of right and honor, decided to seriously throw myself into a contest? Somehow I doubt many would see strength either brawn or of character in one such as I.
