No problem there. But are you sure it's the men who need to pull their heads out of their asses to realize this?

Seems to me a fair number of women haven't realized this, either. Maybe we just spot them?

Or maybe a certain trait has a complementary distribution by some curve.

Shit... maybe genetics do make a dent in the statistics.

barely isn't exactly my fave poster (in fact, I figure she still has me on block).

But, before analyzing what should tell you what, a good number of the posts elicited a twitch toward the reply button, followed by thinking "ah, fuck it, not worth it." and moving on. Not necessarily in the sense of there not being anything worth replying to, though that was the case in some posts, but mostly just one of those things where there's so much to address that I wouldn't know where to begin. Kind of like having a broken pane of glass and a tube of superglue: you toss the glue, clean up the debris, and order a new pane of glass.

Aswad, that is a great understanding of primate behavior if you were reading a 30 year old book. Modern understanding of primate behavior (I am speaking of chimpanzees) is WAY past that. Alpha males switch in and out of that position and actually undergo physical changes in their sympathetic nervous system when the do, one of the major changes is how much testosterone and coritisol levels. They also form aliances with other males so they are not the loner noble alpha males we tend to romanticise. The younger males also do a lot of the fertalization of the Alpha males females when he is busy fighting and otherwise "engaged" so again, it isn't quite the "cool shiny label" people think it is.

Another fun one are bluegill/sunfish. They have two sorts of males, the big bull alpha males and what are called sneaker males. The big bulls make the nests and fight off other bulls. The sneakers are smaller than females but while the bull is off thumping his chest and being all manly, the sneaker comes in and fertalizes some of the eggs the female laid in the bulls nest. Another tactic is they literally dart between a bull and his mate and pretends to be the female and the big bull alpha male is too dumb to realize that another male is shooting sperm all over his females eggs.
