Age doesn't matter at all, but maturity levels, intelligence, stage of life, and common interests certainly do.

Age difference.  Hoo-boy.  Well, I guess it depends on what I want for a relationship, assuming that this is a vanilla (my first time using that expression, yay!) relationship personally I would be a little bit shocked that a woman even two years older then me would be interested in dating me.  Not that I have low self esteem, it's merely that most woman I know tend to want to date the older, more mature, stable and secure men in life that are less likely to fail as a provider.

Psychologically, it falls down to that.  Woman want a secure provider, men want a healthy young woman that can produce strong offspring.  There are exceptions of course but that's from millenia of instinct and basic survival.

I think that it would be a bit difficult to have a romantic relationship with a woman 7-10-20 times my senior due to the fact that yes, they have experienced more then I have and I would be worried that I am not, well, worthy to date them.  Not that I wouldn't do my best to not screw it up.

As for dating someone younger then I am, well, then I am going to be taking into account maturity and intelligence.  I've reached a point in life where I can say a hot girl in a tight shirt and tight pants looks exactly the same as any other hot girl that I've seen.  Looks only go so far, and if that's your only strong point, I'm not going to be dating you for very long, if ever.  Hell, a lot of the time I find that I prefer an older woman's beauty more attractive then a younger girl's hotness, if that makes any sense.
