Hmm... Darcy.... reallllllly? I mean, don't get me wrong, I am a total Jane Austenophile and Darcy is my favorite hero, but surely he is just that, a strong male regency heroic figure, not a Dom? I also think that the idea of a male Dominant is rather contrary to the ideals and philosophies (if one can go beyond social commentary and ascribe that to her) Austen sets out in her writings. She appreciates strength in a male character but repeatedly denies out and out dominance. I think that they both fell into line, not just Lizzy... after all, he came to her in the end not the other way around. As for delicious Dominants in literature... Le Vicomte de Valmont, in Les Liaisons Dangereuses does pop into my mind....though he is certainly not the sort I would allow myself to tangle with. ...and Petruchio, of course... who is also not really my sort, but great fun!
