i realize i'm going to get different opinions on this but i don't care.

what would you prefer, a submissive person who's obedient and behaves or a submissive who's defiant and bratty?

AlexandraLynch -> RE: preferences (7/29/2009 12:54:24 AM)

I personally lose patience with the brat game pretty quickly.

I like personality, and joking and teasing, don't get me wrong. But brattiness isn't attractive. I do not permit it in those under my direction. I did not permit it to become a habit in my offspring, and it's a good way for a sub of mine to find himself without a mistress again.

thank you

Been there, done that and put his happy happy ass on the happy happy train.

didn't realize such a train existed. thanks for your comment

I doubt that any Dom prefer a wet noodle.  I like a some back bone.  But brattiness stops being cute about as fast from an adult sub as from a child.  A little bit goes a long way.  Mostly, a sub just needs to be himself and not play the part of a make believe charactor for his Domme unless instructed to do so during 'play time'.  All of my favorites have had something of a duel personality.  They all present as 'Alpha Males' in polite society, but 'switch' to the playful, subby personality when I'm the only one who can see them.  It can be a tone of voice, tilt of the head, or cut of the eye.  For my new one, that includes being a touch Sassy.  But there's a difference between Bratty and Sassy.  He'll say things and then grin at me to see if I'll hit him for it.  Brats will deliberately do things that the Dom hates and dance away with that "you can't catch me" attitude.

i suppose bratty was probably the incorrect word to use. what i was wanting to go for was like someone who's a little mischievous, but not a whole lot. just someone who wants to have a little fun with it.

by the way, msstarlett, didn't you say i was adorable? =D

LadyPact -> RE: preferences (7/29/2009 5:39:47 AM)

I want obedience.  As I was talking about during an exchange with a new boy yesterday, if it was a vanilla relationship, would you want on that constantly was drama filled or harmonious?

fadedshadow -> RE: preferences (7/29/2009 5:42:42 AM)

drama isn't fun, not for me anyway

RumpusParable -> RE: preferences (7/29/2009 9:10:52 AM)

Obedient and behaves.

SweetDommes -> RE: preferences (7/29/2009 9:18:40 AM)

I'm all for personality, having opinions, ideas and interests of their own. A sense of humor is a must. Initiative is a definite plus.

However, those who are a pain in the ass trying to get a pain in theirs (i.e. spankings, etc as "punishment") get dropped like a hot iron.

I agree. Playfulness and being mischevious as long as it's done in a way honoring of the relationship dynamic is great fun. Behavior designed to irritate or make me mad isn't tolerated. Robots are BORING!

Between well balanced adults, a positive relationship dynamic can be designed where all parties get their needs met. The key is communication, and not passive aggressive/manipulating behavior (by either party).

While we all have opinions here, what REALLY matters, is finding your other half, where your natural personality feeds your partner, and his/hers feeds yours. That is the person whose opinion truly matters.

I require strict obedience. Control is my thing.

I cannot actually control him of course. What really happens is that he controls himself on my behalf. He is willingly obedient.

Works for us.

LOL!  I'm so unhappy sad that two of my favorite subs are on the wrong side of the pond.

I'm definitely on the 'obedient and behaves' bandwagon. To me, a submissive individual who comes to me to submit, yet is defiant, bratty, and unwilling to yield isn't submitting to me at all.

Now, I want to clarify that having an opinion and expressing it appropriate to the situation, being intelligent, witty, funny, and capable of giving, and taking, a joke aren't signs of being bratty or defiant to me. I -like- those things in people whom I spend a lot of time around, including my servants... but timing is everything, and knowing when it's time to joke, and when it's time to just do what I say... well, that's priceless. For everything else, there's Master (or Dame)Card!

I agree with you 100%, especially the YKINMK!
To each their own.

He can be someone that is setting the world on fire, but

if he is bratty, catty, loves topping from the bottom, a do me, {you insert term here},
it will not work for me, I don't need/like/enjoy or prefer power struggles.
