"Domliness and Masterfulness"

i am VERY new to BDSM and yet i have found a few things to be true about Doms and Masters:

1. They have impeccable manners, at all times. (Apart from protective moments, etc.)

2. They make no demand to be called "Master" etc. until a collar is considered, and perhaps not even then. They certainly do not choose "MasteroftheUniverse" nicks and demand every woman address Them as such.

3. They are kind and compassionate, answering people in trouble (even of their own making) with sound advice.

4. They are financially stable, whether pauper or prince.

5. They never ask me for free advice.

6. Whatever They have chosen to do for a living, They do so well and confidently.

7. They never pressure me to agree in advance to something which exceeds my limits.

8. In disagreeing with someone, they discuss the point of contention, and refrain from attacking the poster (even when doing so would be fun).

9. They are never self-important; They post as Their own opinion, not The Way It Should Be.

10. They always seem to see Themselves as works in progress, open to new experiences and to learning.

I had to double check this because I thought I was in the 'humor' forum. ::chuckles::

One should consider that whether a man (or woman) calls themselves dom or master or any other self-syled title, he is human with all of the same human frailties as any other. While I may think my domly honey is perfect and a gift from the gods, he is still a man - he gets sweaty and farts and gets hungry and his laundry gets dirty; he gets sick and has good days and bad days. He is no paragon of perfection and thank goodness for that.

While I may agree with some of what you say, doms and masters are not demigods.

Like in any facet of life, it depends who you meet or talk to. Not everyone has the same qualities as everyone else.

And lol to Celeste!

Where are these Doms hiding? If you find one guy with all of those qualities it will be a miracle.

i know Men like this; They are good friends; i value Them highly. Don't you know such Men, true? Yes, some people are lacking but these are my "ideals" and some Men -- not a few -- meet Them.

Apart from protective moments? Curious as to what that means.

I think these are basic qualities one would look for in any healthy relationship, even a vanilla one.
Yes, people like this still exist, and it took me a long time to find one like this, but i did when i found my Master.
Yes, newflowers, I agree with you too, they are still human, as are we.

Sometimes I start thinking that my Dragon is the end all be all... and then he does something that reminds me that he just human. At times, this has been a scarey realization for me. lol

That was poorly written; what i meant was there are times to be rude, even aggressive. For various reasons.

Candy, didn't know that's what was behind your post here... LOL

To answer your question... i've met one... as such that has all of these qualities..and more.. Master....

Now i'm not saying this just because he is my Master....(not one to blow some up someones ass and ruin their autopsy... LOL) I'm saying this because it's true. Hell we met under "vanilla" conditions... and it was over 7 months before I knew he was even a Dom.

I've met a few that have SOME of these qualities... but this Master... this one man.. is the only one I've met.. that has all these... and a few more.

This might have more to do with exposure and experience than how Domly or Masterful they are. In the beginning, almost all the Tops learn that newness in a dom is not considered a virtue in the community, so they quickly don the robes of LordMasterDomlyDom and cap their pronouns to show everyone just how domly (and, hence experienced) they really are. I have known many a bright, well-intentioned and good hearted dom who has fallen into that trap...but once they pick up a bit of actual experience, they figure out that you don't need to (as Disco Stu puts it) advertise.

On the other hand, there are some folks wh have been around a long time and still have yet to figure it out...I think the BDSM gods provide them as comic relief.
