Oh well, just the usual in the political circus. Happens regardless of who is at the helm at the moment.

It sucks!

It's a distraction from the issues. It will provide a backlash of sympathy for what has been, so far, an incompetent Administration.

However, I appreciate this is the constituency we have in the US. They want the 'buzz-word' sound-clip or video image and don't have the ability to remain focused on issues. Hell - they don't have the ability to understand the issues. So you end up with this stupid portrayal; similar to the Bush caricature, polarizing and unproductive.

If the poster indicates anything it's that not all 'youth' are Obamites. I don't think this image was conservative Republican generated - they're not that clever and I doubt they even get the 'Joker' reference. This had to come from the 'in' crowd. Were I in the Obama camp that's the only worry this poster would cause.

I agree that it is likely a youth thing.

I'm not sure I agree that the poster is a "stupid portrayal" in the realm of political battles. I think it is very effective and perhaps to be one of the most remembered in the history books.

"Remaining focused on the issues" is important, but I think this poster does exactly that, and in a manner that is almost instantly effective. Sure, it's an emotional statement, and "we" on the "right" tend to pride ourselves on logic and staying issue focused ... but we often forget the power of symbols.

This one is so ... "elegant" and impactful that I suspect that books will be written about it.

Think about how it takes one of the Obama's supporters own icons - and turns it on its head.

Think of how it makes a statement about the seen, and the unseen ... with only one word.

Think about how it passes by the entire debate of whether his policies are correct or not - it simply says that what he has said, and what he is doing are different. Sure, it leads you to a conclusion about whether or not Obama really has your interests, or other interests at heart - but, again such a powerful impact: what symbology!

You on the right somehow now lay claim to logic and staying on focus....your shitting me right?
Is that what Bush/Cheney were doing when they took their eyes off of Bin Laden....and cast them longingly at Iraq.....staying focused.
Is this the comedy hour?
Bin Laden is still making videos in a fucking cave...and you guys can stay issue focused....please give me a fucking break.

Obama has had seven months to catch bin Laden ... where is he? Why isn't he focusing on the real issue, and the real enemy?

I think it's a conspiracy .... [:)]

You can ask that after your guy squanderd 7 years...let him off the hook when he was penned up in the caves of ToraBora(?)...and went looking for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq...please tell me your joking....please!

Well ... ok. Maybe I overstated.

But it will definitely be in a book! [:D]

The question I have though ... what does it say to you?

That the artist lacks imagination and doesn't know the mythology of the Joker.  Because it just doesn't work.

A fairly pathetic attempt to apply the stylized appearance of someone in blackface to Obama. Compare the image to that of performers in minstrel shows and you will see what the real intent was.

And lets have a poll on the body count if it ever happens. There is a reason the miltiary decided that isolating him is a better alternative to sending troops into caves where they are sitting ducks, able to be picked off one by one. If the political climate ever permitted leveling a few mountains with MOABs he'd be dead, but then the conspiracy theorists would say "Duhhhh, the body was never found. He's really living in Crawford, TX".

So you consider it racist, DK?

What then, did you call it when the left did the exact same thing to Bush?

You did see kittn's post, and link, didn't you? The one where Vanity Fair did the same thing to him?

That was acceptable political commentary, I bet, wasn't it?

You belief seems to be a perfect example of the left's "criticism of Obama is racism" meme.

What it says to me is that some 'semi-talented' artist has no clue what the definition of socialism really is and is trying to make a name for himself (without having the balls to own up to his actions, that is).

Where did I ever say anything of the sort? Go back through my posting history. You won't ever find me making any such comparisons or approving of such.

Retract your claim.
