My cat did a first (for her) earlier today. She was licking the screen of my cell phone. Why? Well, it wasn't because I'd slathered it in bacon grease. I really have no idea.

Because she's a cat and it was there?

Bitty is driving me nuts! Literally! I have a bowl of nuts from the winter season, and he keeps digging them out of the bowl and then batting them all over the place. I gave him one and put them up, but he figured out how to get to them and knocked the whole shebang ddown.....twice. So I gave him two and put the rest in a cupboard.....which he proceeded to open and get three more nuts out.

The whole painful part is that he leaves them in the damndest places around the house, and I inevitably end up stepping on them.....do you know how much a filbert nut hurts when you step on it? Right in the arch? Mother fu%^ker hurts like hell!

Kids.....can't live with 'em, and you can't beat 'em!

My tabby boy is passed out in the rocking chair. My calico girl is getting brain dead wasted on the cat nip I sprinkled on the carpet for them. I just pray for a good trip, not a bad one where she freaks out over some cat hallucination shit only she can see.

For the last two days, Viktor is acting like there's something in the apartment and it's kinda spooky. The other night he was stalking something down the hallway - soooo fixated on "it", all hunched down, slowly creeping, then stopping. Nothing would distract him. I turned on every light, got down on the floor to look, myself, and saw nothing. Picked him up and moved him (because he was freaking me out) and he went right back to hunching and staring.

I have no idea what the heck is/was in my hallway. Last night he was doing the ol' darting from wall to wall thing, up on a chair, then on the window sill, then on the table, then against the sliding door, then to the couch....meowing and darting his head and eyes from place to place. This little jumping bean exercise lasted about 20 minutes.

I have no idea what's going on in his little cat head but I'm hoping for some sense of normalcy tonight!

Oh man, Nueva......that would truly freak me out too! Smooch does that.....he did it in the back bedroom of the first apartment we lived in here in FL. He'd come stalking down the hallway, get to the bathroom door and then *FOOF* every hair on his body and run back into the bedroom......All I told him was that if it felt evil to him to let me know and we'd move ASAP! He'd do this about once or twice a month. The house would sometimes creak, but I put it down to the age of the building...once he started that, I thought twice about it.

He still occasionally does the wild run around the place meowing at the ceiling at the place we're in now, but I think that's now he's just messing with me! (I HOPE!)

I just did a wall repair on the window here....they were using it to sharpen their claws on the sill and had dug the plaster out to the frame......so far, it's holding fine. The ironic part is they have scratchers here!

s2s it totally freaked me out lol. He was also doing the "running sideways/backwards with his back arched" thing, too. What. The. Hell. LOL!

He's much calmer today. Whew.

At my last apartment he used to run and meow at the walls a LOT and my vet told me cats' hearing is sooo much more sensitive than ours, and he was probably just hearing bugs in the wall or something. So THAT made me feel good - my walls had bugs lol.

UGH on the window sill! I have scratchers for Viktor and he still scratches the couch up. I even put a scratching post right next to the couch....but NOPE. He wants the couch.

Right now he's resting peacefully so I snuck in and clipped his nails.

That gave me an idea. Angel was resting peacefully, so I thought I'd just sneak in there and give her an Advantage treatment. She heard me coming and sat bolt upright, wide awake. I think I'll wait for her nap tomorrow and do it.

She was interfering with my TV viewing again. When I have my glasses on, she keeps pushing them up on my forehead and I keep pushing them back down. Unlike me, she finds this very entertaining.

Yep, I always wait until he's deep in sleep and too tired to care, and then I start clip clip clipping. Sometimes he bolts right awake and I can only do one nail (one time it took me a week to do all four paws) and other times miracles happen and I do all ten. :)

Sleep time is good for Advantage, too. I don't like giving those to Viktor because it really really burns his skin and really irritates his eyes (the fumes, I guess). He's miserable for about an hour afterwards. Since he's indoor only, I've only given it to him a few times, when fleas somehow found their way in.

OK that's hilarious!

If fleas are a problem inside, ya gotta try Raid's flea killer spray. Just two treatments, and no more fleas. Seriously..I had been fighting fleas for about 18 months on the cats, finally found a topical that worked, but killing the fleas on the cats didn't mean a thing. I got the raid, and *poof* gone in a week. Just spray it on the rug, it's not stinky, there is some odor, but not bad. I (try) to keep the cats off the rug til it's dry, but there was no effect to them. We are now totally flea free.

Both my kitty girls have an eyeglash fetish. Misty is content to rub her whiskers against the frames. Angel, however, likes to get her nose underneath the frames and push the glasses up to the middle of my forehead. I immediately push them down again, and she immediately pushes them back up. This can easily keep her entertained during an entire hour-long program. I switched back to contacts and now wear them 80% of the time, but the kitties really look forward to the 20% when I wear glasses.

Thankfully fleas aren't a problem here. I've had them twice since moving to this apartment, in the last 3 years and I think they hop in from my patio, although I'm not sure. Viktor doesn't go outside but the neighbors cats are sometimes out there (not in my patio, but on the walkway on the other side of the fence).

I did read that if your pet has fleas, that only represents about 10% of the fleas - the rest are likely in your home. But so far when I've given him the Advantage for it, the flea problem disappeared from everywhere. I'm glad for that since I don't like to use a lot of chemicals in the home...he reacts very badly to them, sensitive little guy that he is. I can't even use Fabreze air freshener - he's really allergic.

MysticFireTopaz that's just too darn funny. I'd love to see video of that!!

Am going into changing part of cats food into barf food and bought some raw meat for them as well as ordering stuff like taurin powder and bones flour....but cheeeshe you seem to have to consider a lot of stuff; no raw pork meat, liver only once a week and so on...

anyhow, I put that stuff into the freezer until I worked through my books thoroughly but gave curry chicken liver on saturday and sunday (before dumping it in the freezer for now).

Now...Curry liked it A LOT, which was no surprise, considering how many mice he ate already...the other cats politely declined this offer on saturday...

Then I made a last attempt on sunday and whilst Curry as a happy camper chewed on another piece of liver, Pepper sat in front of hers..."thinking"...what to do next...

She looked a few times at curry and then started carefully to chew on it...a tiny bit here and a tiny bit there and another tiny bit...every now and again observing Curry, to check if he is still chewing as well...

After about half of it she then happily let Curry to have the rest of it...

But I was happy, that this treat addicted skinny cat gave it a try

This week I'm doing cat treats mysel...mixing pate with flour and eggs and then bake it in the oven for 30 mins...time to get Pepper off the expensive junk treats

Misty is savoring a few tidbits of pie crust. For some reason, she loves it. Angel looks at me like I'm out of my mind when I offer her some.

KB is partial to the sweet hawaiian rolls, he licks the entire roll, then starts eating it...it's probably the butter.....Squeaks like my cinnamon raisin bagels. I can't remember when I've ever eaten at home where I haven't had to share with someone!

The cat above looks like my Lily Puss (may she RIP) when she was terrified by a thunder storm.

Angel is expressing her dominance by making Misty stay up on the table. She's looking at her menacingly and will chase her if she tries to jump down. Time for me to go put Angel in her place. She's being a little too uppity tonight.
