LadyPact -> RE: BOIZ, LEMME TELL YOU HOW IT'S DONE....THAT TIRED OLD TOPIC, "TRIBUTE"..... (8/14/2009 6:28:04 PM)

I think, in general, it also has to be looked at from the sense of what do you consider bragging?  From a certain perspective, just about any form of something that someone does for the person that's on the other side of the kneel could be considered boasting, even if they are just sharing some happy occasion on these boards.  Even things such as being happy that a submissive is serving over and above expectations or a Dominant provided a scene that a sub has been dreaming of for some time.  Eliminating everything that could be construed as bragging, we would never show anything positive.

There have been times that I've written posts on these boards because I was so excited about a particular thing that happened that I just plain wanted to share.  That's covered a lot of territory over the last two and a half years.  Good service or good scenes or a groundbreaking event.  The good stuff has just as much credibility for discussion as the problematic parts.  If we're going to look at any dynamic as a whole, the reality is, there's going to be both.

Starbuck09 -> RE: BOIZ, LEMME TELL YOU HOW IT'S DONE....THAT TIRED OLD TOPIC, "TRIBUTE"..... (8/14/2009 6:30:51 PM)

I've got no problem with a doing nice things to be an expression of love, and in a kink context I think service is in many ways simply an extension of role play so that's part and parcel of the sex life [particuarly dry foreplay] which again I have no problem with being an expression of love.
I have to say andalusite that, possibly because I am not someone who responds to ''visual symbols of love'', the description of this particular trope is anaethma to my own experience of and what I desire from love.

Starbuck09 -> RE: BOIZ, LEMME TELL YOU HOW IT'S DONE....THAT TIRED OLD TOPIC, "TRIBUTE"..... (8/14/2009 6:33:53 PM)

Yes friends buy each other gifts all the time because it's a nice thing to do for a mate. But none of my mate's judge the worth of my freindship on the nature and frequency of the gifts they receive from me. I am in no way cheap red magic and I have no problem with giving gifts. What I have a problem with is those gifts being used as a yardstick to judge the depth and nature of my feelings.

Andalusite -> RE: BOIZ, LEMME TELL YOU HOW IT'S DONE....THAT TIRED OLD TOPIC, "TRIBUTE"..... (8/14/2009 6:35:16 PM)

Starbuck, nothing wrong with that, and it's something to discuss with any future partner you may have. [:D] Just keep in mind that other people have different approaches that work for them, without necessarily being negative in *their* relationships! Frankly, if someone was that freaked out by it, I'd probably put them on my "to don't" list, even though it isn't one of my priorities.

Starbuck09 -> RE: BOIZ, LEMME TELL YOU HOW IT'S DONE....THAT TIRED OLD TOPIC, "TRIBUTE"..... (8/14/2009 6:36:19 PM)

Nothing wrong with anything you've written in your post Lady, at least in my opinion. I'd feel differently if someone came on the boards to declare that they now knew their partner loved them as said partner had bought them a car.

No worries Andalusite i'll check that book out and let you know what I think.[;)]

Ah, Sodsta, but these things are done out of love.

Not because they are expected....

and making your partner laugh is another good gift. These things are priceless.

But I see people have dissenting views on this.

Damn.  A woman does her commute and has a bite to eat and then finds the whole damned thread has exploded in a couple of hours.  Don't people have anything better to do on a Friday night?  Erm, no, well, never mind.

The only thing I find wrong with you-Venatrix- is that you find me too young. [&:]

Give me twenty years, please.

Look at the bright side of things:  many men I've dated have told me I've aged them considerably.

Yes, it has turned into a genderslinging bash fest. . .

Ah, so that's what hit me in the head.  I hate it when those genders get slung; they hurt like hell.

Thanks for the compliment Venatrix. Perhaps we can sip on some Earl Gray and enjoy some Toccata and Fugue or some choral chamber music someday.

I can be pudgy and balding too!

My pleasure.  And that sounds like a lovely afternoon.  Given that I plan to move back to England next year, it's going to be a rather expensive date for you.  See, we just can't get away from money and dating.  And by the time you're pudgy and balding, I'll be . . . I'll be . . . in my early 80s, though I hope more fabulous than ever!

"Ah, but you cannot get to England in a rowboat."

Would you not consider dating someone considerably younger Venatrix?

*If* I could bring myself to try dating again, and I probably won't for at least a couple of years, I'd want someone to settle down with.  It's hard enough to make a relationship work, without throwing a huge age difference into the mix.  I'm not saying people can't do it (Harold and Maude is one of my favourite films), but I'm not one of them.  I'd want someone more or less within ten years of whatever my current age was.

It's no disrespect to younger men, and in all honesty, younger men often seem much better behaved than men near my age, but if I cared for someone, I wouldn't want to put him in the position of having to become a nursemaid to me when my bits and pieces start falling apart.  With an older man, it's odds on which one of us will become the nursemaid, so I feel like it's a fairer deal, if you will.

I am already a nursemaid/caretaker type deal. It is my inner nature. A friendly date is still in order, no?

This thread is quickly becoming jacked...

okay...

So men, idiots. Woman, also idiots. Internet forums, moron pool. But love is cool and gifts come in there somewhere right? Good. Agreed. Meeting adjourned.

crxmale -> RE: BOIZ, LEMME TELL YOU HOW IT'S DONE....THAT TIRED OLD TOPIC, "TRIBUTE"..... (8/14/2009 7:55:18 PM)

Wow Tex, I can't compete with that. It sounds like you have everything you desire and all your needs are being met. I don't call that tribute as I am sure you deserve all of that and more. And I am sure manthing is doing these things out of generosity and a sense of wanting to please you and make you happy. Having been initiated at the "Best Little" and having been dry hustled a few times at the titty bars, I can tell Van that you don't always get what you pay for. But then sometimes you do. That's the risk you take.

I think what manthing is doing is great and being able to help those less fortunate and in need is a great example of his generous and thoughtful nature. Not only sharing is money but his skills. You don't want to be without airconditioning in Houston at any time of the year but especially in August.

pyro, you're one of my favourite people on here, and I've been here less then a week!

Indeed.  But my cat will want to check you out before he gives his permission.  After all, someone has to look out for me.

After eleven pages of "men are cheap and women are gold-diggers," I say we're entitled to jack the thread all we want.  And on that note, I'm going to go shake my groove thing.  It's time for a little exercise.

There are quite a few younger guys who have done very well with older women :)  You don't have to worry, you have plenty of time - you and our new boytoy who posts from Canada are a refreshing, open minded breath of fresh air and I'm glad you guys are posting.

When I met the man who was to become my husband he was right out of college with maybe less than one hundred dollars to his name, working construction as he hadn't picked and started a career yet. He had no money and was totally broke when we got together. Needless to say, he couldn't buy me anything, but boy, did he devote time, and he made my life so amazingly easy in a very stressful time when we got together.  He managed to afford a dozen roses and had those sent to my office once early on, and I remember it very fondly.

Oh and he's Canadian. Love those Canadian boys!!

How exactly are you connecting those dots? [8|][8|][8|][8|][8|]

I like how the community of Dommes have already possessed us, VanIsleKnight. It is quite the fuzzy feeling that grows inside.

Thanks for the compliment too!

I do like the older women... because I seem to fail miserably at fitting in with my own peer group. That and they have such lovely brain matter that is delectable. My palette! It is enriched!

Its that Akasha predator thing... just drives me wild. Little does she know I am quite the vicious beast that is not so easily tamed.

Mwahaha.

VanIsleKnight -> RE: BOIZ, LEMME TELL YOU HOW IT'S DONE....THAT TIRED OLD TOPIC, "TRIBUTE"..... (8/14/2009 8:30:50 PM)

They... they were talking about me?

meep

I thought there was another Canadian around. Erm. Shake your groove thing, shake your groove thing?

Speaking of dancing... I really need to get into that salsa thing.
