What you tryin to say Red?????
*laughs* Uh, I think he was referring to some of my posts when I first joined... Looking back, some of them at least were definitely in the "most clueless" category.... which would pretty much fit my state of knowledge at the time.

But at least when I collared Carol, I understood that I needed more of a purpose for an entire human than "lots of blowjobs".

Now Red, be fair.  An example of an uber Dom post as well, please.

Acer49 already provided one in this thread.  The notion that all new people are young, or perhaps that all young people are clueless, hence we ourselves have no responsibility to provide education and support, and instead should ship them off to some other group that we don't really understand and don't want to.

At least on this message board, the most clueless posts are put up by people whose profiles indicate they are well over 35.  Especially among the female posters, the younger ones tend to be awfully sharp.

Obviously the acceleration towards idiocy is not the perrogative of women only.

But isn't that all a collar is about???? *shrugs*

Since Red has visited my profile and I am under that 35 marker and female last I checked that maybe I had landed on the stupid wagon! LOL

Yet another brilliant thread, and very well said..

I think I only posted yesterday on another thread that BDSM is about doing which leads to the knowing. You can read tons about it, you can research it, you can ask different people but until you get up and do something about it you're never going to find out.

It's like the people who write to you interested in getting to know you, and they write 'tell me something about you'... This isn't to me showing an interest in getting to know me.

Carpe diem has got nothing to do with jiggy jiggy, it's all about 'seizing the day'. The full phrase is carpe diem quam minimum credula postero 'seize the day and place no trust in tomorrow'.

It's just like the Biblical 'eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die.' It's the existential caution - life is short, time is fleeting, so make the most of opportunities here and now.

It doesn't bother me when people start threads seeking to have all the answers handed to them. That's because I don't see myself as someone who has all those answers to provide. There are those here (and you know who you are) who do see themselves that way and post an answer on nearly every single thread that pops up. That indeed must get tiring - "having" to provide one's wisdom to everyone who happens by. I'll give the "advice" that so many regularly give here: ignore and move on if you (the general "you") don't feel like advising. It's not like the fate of the world rests on the advice we share.........luci

This is why I don't answer a lot of questions anymore on the threads. I seem to be answering the same things over and over.

And humorously enough, now I have people writing to me asking information (seems some people gave them my name and tell them to ask me information).

Nowadays, I answer if I feel that it might help a few people, but if it's just one clueless wannabe who is trying to "score with chicks" then I'll let some other "seasoned veteran" answer that one.

See it isn't that I feel I have lots of knowledge, its simply that I have no life

I can see both sides of this.  We were all new at something once and asked questions that we should have been able to answer by ourselves with a little looking around and/or common sense.  Be it at a new job or this or whatever.  But it's the constant ones that can be a bit... trying?

And there are some questions that seem noobish if worded or read slightly wrong.  For example, some people asking about, as someone brought up, knot tying.  Yes, there are a gajillion places to learn how to tie a knot.  I know how to tie knots.  That's easy enough.  But let's look at an example question.  "I'm looking into trying out shibari techniques, any advice please?"

Read one way and it could easily seem like someone is asking "Will you please go out and research this for me and provide me a ton of links so I don't have to go to the effort of doing it myself?"  Yes, very annoying.

Read another way it could sound like "I find this to be interesting and would like to try it out, but, all of the books out there are just one persons point of view.  I'd like other opinions on things such as what kind of rope is best to use, how tight do poeple think is too tight, and do you know of any reuptable places to purchase this rope that most people seem to prefer?  Also, I already know how to tie a hundred different knots, but, which ones work best for this in your opinions, as a knot that's great for tying a boat in the harbor might not be the best for tying someones wrists?"

It's a lot in how the query is perceived I think.

Then there are those that, yes, just sad and pathetic.  The ones that, no matter how you read it, they come off as sounding like "I'm a 39 year old that has never had a date, HELP!?"  Sorry, there's nothing we can do to assist you in this.  You have some other, major issues that you need to work on if you're unable to figure out how to socialize with a person after 39 years of life. >.<

I think sometimes BK it is hard to differentiate between the genuine questions and the people who want to make a 10 page bickering thread and actually never post on said thread again, but then the puppet masters tell us to dance

*hums* #thats entertainment# *hums*

There are new posters that are very sincere and it is rare that anyone is snarky with them.

As a matter of fact, there's a thread I desperately need to post right now (not that it hasn't been hashed over time and again, but not from the angle I need it from what I have looked up in the archives), but it is going to start a shitstorm of grand magnitude and I am not sure I am comfortable being the architect of such chaos! Still I might have to do it anyway. When you all see it, please don't come to Virginia and kill me. Please?
