"RWH, A Dem is going to get the seat anyway. It's been three decades since they voted a republican into office in MA."

Actually they had a Republican Govenor 5 years ago, which seems less than 3 decades. That was why they changed the law in the first place.

Nothing wrong with changing your mind, but pretending you didn't seems kind of cheesy.

We were discussing senate seats..and my comment was factually correct.....it has been thirty years since a republican from MA saw the inside of the senate other than on a tour. Look it up.

And I don't deny it.....I was less than correct when I said that partisan politics had nothing to do with this. I am sure that if a republican was governor, Kennedy would not have opened his mouth. And having realized that, I still didn't think it the horror you try to turn it into. Changing your mind is perfectly allowable. For example, you said in your previous post "quote:

But I don't know, I think I have said what I can about this issue...barring any new ideas, you can have the last word.".....but you obviously changed your mind.....now I'm fine with that...I like discussion. But are you going to admit that you changed your mind as well...or slip into self described cheesiness?

"RWH, A Dem is going to get the seat anyway. It's been three decades since they voted a republican into office in MA."

Was a new bit of nonsense so I responded to it. So nope, no change of mind at all. Did you read what I wrote? " barring any NEW IDEAS, you can have the last word".

What you meant to write instead of what you wrote was correct, I suppose.....

There is nothing wrong with changing your mind, but there is with pretending you haven't. Like you did in post 150

"I have not changed my opinion at all on this matter. Of course this is a partisan maneuver in the sense that I do not believe that this same initiative would have been brought if the governor of MA had been a republican. "

Yes, RWH.....I have said twice that I thought it over and changed my thought on the matter....the opinion that there is nothing to get one's panties in a bunch about it has not changed. My opinion that it is more influenced by a desire to get a piece of desired legislation passed has not changed. My opinion that it had nothing to do with party politics was rethought and changed and admitted to, twice.

DO YOU HEAR EVERYONE...I THOUGHT THINGS OVER, CONSIDERED THE FACTS AND CHANGED MY MIND. I guess that means I'm not a right winger.

All of the Kennedy hating aside.....pretty damn good legislator....look up his accomplishments....quit bashing for the sake of bashing. Look at his work on behalf of those with disabilities, the elderly, children of the military, civil rights, workers rights and safety, minimum wage so that the least fortunate of the working poor at least have a baseline, even working for President Bush's No Child Left Behind etc etc etc. As much as those on the other side hate to have the Bush bashing that I myself find so easy to do, at least Teddy for all his years has a number of significant accomplishments that were thought of to better our society.
It is very easy to bash those that put themselves up-front on issues and Teddy does not back down!

McCain,Brownback,Lamarr Alexander Hatch et. al. even admire his work and his ability to get things done!....high praise from the other side should tell you something of the man as a legislator. Nothing said here will defame the man as a legislator and those that look will find accomplishment, dedication and a sense of history to what he has done.

Wow - how awesome is that.

Government TV is gonna have a special on the Kennedy dynasty...

[/sarcasm]

I wonder if there will be a "Wheel of Fortune" rerun I could watch instead.  [8|]

Why not watch "Great Ideas of the Current Conservative Movement".....that should use up about a minute and a half of your tv watching time.

popeye1250 -> RE: Ted Kennedy (8/25/2009 12:11:11 PM)

The differance between Reagan and Kennedy is that Reagan's people didn't have to tell pople that he was "beloved" like the Kennedy camp does.
It's kind of like being "cool", if you think you are you're not.
And if Kennedy did such a great job on the minimum wage why is it only at $7.50 per hour or whatever?
Fifteen dollars an hour today is at "subsistance level."
Seven fifty is ok for a high school kid working after school but that's about it.

SilverMark -> RE: Ted Kennedy (8/25/2009 12:26:13 PM)

Popeye, I think the number of times the Old Perv has been elected atests to his stature within his state....I think(strictly opinion) that had he not been so indiscreet as he was perhaps he would have held national office.(hell, that would probably disqualify you and me both) As for the minimum wage, don't you remember the bitching in these forums when it went to $7.50????? I don't remember specifically but, I am certain you thought it was tied to Globalisim[:D]
or free trade!
