Can an intellectual equal not be a submissive/slave? Or should I not open that can of worms.

I think intellectual equals as well as intellectual superiors can be submissives/slaves......after all, what pleasure is there in owning a roll of fucktards?

I've always been the intellectual equal of any man who has dominated me. I didn't have a fancy smancy term for it though . . . .

I wouldn't be interested in the submission of an intellectual inferior.  Because I don't care enough about their decisions.  Hence I value submission when it's the submission of somebody I respect.

To ensure that I am not coming off as elitist though, even intellectual inferiors, if they are not too far out of range, can be pleasant as well.

Wow.  And to think I thought it was a legitimate question/idea.  How utterly, completely stupid of me.  I'll be sure never to say such things here again.

Why is it so important to stick labels on everything or try to make them fit into neat little boxes? In some dynamics what you describe can either be d/s, m/s, or a 50's household .

You could add Victorian Lifestyle to this list too.

noun - Someone who is willingly submissive to another person, and only that person.  Like a wife or husband (not necessarily legally married, but with the same degree of devotion) in that "He's mine and I'm hers, anything else is cheating, immoral, and unacceptable," but with one being submissive and the other being dominant.

This person:
  1. Generally defers to their other in any final decisions and/or arguments.
  2. Willingly does what they are told to do by their other.
  3. Is generally respected as an intellectual equal.
  4. Can willingly leave their other.
  5. Is NOT broken, brainwashed, or in any way forced into this role.

This person may or may not:
  1. Have a dominating personality around people other than their "other half".
  2. Have a job where he/she does not answer to their other.
  3. Retain any of these traits in sexual situations.
  4. Regularly verbalize their own opinion and viewpoint.
  5. Have their "own thing" going on such as a hobby or business that has nothing to do with their other.
  6. Own property of their own.
  7. Be seen as property by either party, though it should be stated if that is the case or not.
  8. Be subject to other stated rules.
  9. Be subject to any type of domination in public.
  10. Be marked in any way, such as a tattoo or collar.
  11. Be subject to any type of punishment for any perceived or stated misbehavior.
  12. Be married.
  13. Be male or female (though if someone wants to come up with a male and female version, that's fine by me).

Sort of like a stereotypical 50's housewife, but with far more social "rights".

Why "slave" doesn't work:  Most definitions include the term "work" and conjure images of punishment as a matter of course.  Punishment may or may not be part of the relationship, and may or may not be as clear cut as one would expect of a stated slave/master relationship.  Slaves also may or may not be subject to being sold or traded.  This person is submissive only to one other person, no other.

Why "sub" or "submissive" doesn't work:  Isn't really seen outside of the BDSM community as a noun, but as an adjective.  Doesn't specify devotion to one person exclusively.  May or may not be situational.

Why "kajira" doesn't work: Far too specific in all areas of life, including property ownership, etc.

I  really don't see why submissive wouldn't cover this nicely.  I call myself "a submissive," using it as a noun, meaning a person, place, or thing.  I am a monogamous submissive to a monogamous Dominant.  In that sentence the word submissive is a noun/pronoun and the word monogamous is the adjective, as it modifies the word "submissive."  I see no problem with the word submissive.  If you are insisting on a brand-new word  you could make up whatever you want, but you could still ask a gazillion people and come up with a gazillion ideas of what it means, just as with the words slave and submissive.

"Menial" and "subserviant" can never, ever, ever, ever be used as nouns! OMG, didn't you read the OP?
That's just not done. What the hell kind of thesaurus are you using, anyway? Everyone knows that words cannot be used that way. We cannot have good goods, smart smarts, sweet sweets, heavy heavies, light lights, sound sounds, submersible submersibles, funny funnies, short shorts, brief briefs, still stills, flat flats, or orange oranges...

Well, I am not sure why we need to put so narrow a term on things.
The words "husband" ,"wife" and "marriage" describe a range of vastly different relationships, with many different power dynamics and arrangements. The marriage of Brad and Angelina is very different than the marriage of a Taliban elder to his 14 year old purchased bride; which is different than a marriage between a Manhattan yuppie couple of lawyer and doctor; and so on and so forth.
I don't think it is helpful to keep coining new words to describe every tiny inflection of power dynamic and arrangement, since there will soon be as many terms as their are relationships. (See "Code D' Odalisques")

Hmmm......"The Submissive Spouse" is more than one word, but seems to fit your definition rather well. Or "Submissive Companion".
