That crazy flat Earth muslim is pathetic. He also exhibits the same lack of imagination in interpreting scripture that you do.

"He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved.   (Psalm 104:5)"

"He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers.  He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.  (Isaiah 40:22)"

I can't imagine how an omniscient god could have such a poor understanding of his creation. Care to explain why god thinks that he lives above a two dimensional earth which sits on foundations and can never be moved?

The question is not whether ancient man understood the universe as modern man perceives it, but whether modern man can possibly understand the universe as ancient man perceived it.

"Ancient man"(we're talking about early Christians here right?) came to the conclusion that the earth was flat based on passages like the above, why exactly would we want to go back to perceiving the earth that way?

I have no idea what the context of this remark is - and I am not going to look it up. If I knew, intrepretation would be easy.

That's easy.

In contrast, I have a perfect understanding and I do can imagine that. No, I do not care to explain.

No, about two thousand years before that.

This already happens in Phoenix, starting in middle school. Mormon kids are permitted to leave campus, walk across the street and go to seminary and obtain class credit for it. Not being Mormon (A.K.A. LDS), I have no idea how it works within the school system, but it happens.

Studying the Bible critically is a booming business nowadays and is what I am aiming to use to pay my bills. OP, if you have any questions about this ludicrous branch of study, I'd be happy to field them.

Critical examination of the bible until demonstrated as simply faith based marketing is absolutely necessary.

Unless, as I have asked for, their agenda is not truly to examine the bible critically as they outlined before this was passed?

I have a hard time believing the government would have allowed that to happen.  Allowing something like that to happen would be promoting Christianity over all other religions in this nation - wouldn't it?

Doesn't the government care about the Jews, Hindus, Muslims, Odinists, Pagans, Agnostics or non-theists?

For you, being a Bible man. Other people not as obsessed simply ignore the whole Bible.

As I stated, I have no idea how it works, but it's a common occurance, I assure you. Also, the population of LDS in Mesa, Arizona is near or over the population of LDS in Salt Lake, so clearly it is an overwhelming majority of the suburb. Unfortunately, I have no evidence to present you with for the above, reiterated reasons... Those, and I study Messiah movements in pre-Christian Judea; archaeologist, not sociologist ;)
