Here is where you lose all remaining credibility, and where I quit reading, NG:

Sanity - and I'm convinced that's aspirational on your part rather than affirmed - the day I have any sort of credibility with you is the day I dig deep within my reserves and come back a different man.

Well, NG, rather than debate you on the murky self serving definitions and examples you give ... why not continue the conversation that you started, to wit:

Hitler thought in a "conservative" manner?

Other than being historically false in every conceivable way

This should be entertaining.....

Go on then - why is it 'false'?

I then gave you some of the common beliefs of conservatives (US, anyway) and asked you which of them Der Fuhrer supported.

You have not addressed your own challenge.

How about doing so now, rather than attempting to change the subject?

Just so you'll not have to look back:

Some current US conservative/libertarian trends in thought are generally considered to be:

1. Smaller, less intrusive government.
2. Respect for private property
3. Respect for individual rights
4. Self reliance,
5. Individual responsibility

... and a few others.

Which of these did Der Fuhrer support?

The hell with Der Fuhrer, Firm, what US conservatives have done ANYTHING in the direction of the points that you brought up as representing conservative thought. I am still waiting for any citation of results, or even attempts that fit into your conservative ideologies..

I tend to be in agreement with Panda on the subject.

And you are giving NG cover (intentionally or otherwise) because he made a claim, and hasn't responded to my challenge. In rereading his comments, he said he would be away for a few days, so I'm waiting for him to return and summarize how the Hitler was a "conservative" a la modern American conservatives.

You question would be a great second thread, if you want to start it. I may have time to participate.
