WASHINGTON — The Republican national party has mailed a fundraising appeal suggesting Democrats might use an overhaul of the health care system to deny medical treatment to Republicans.A questionnaire accompanying the appeal says the government could check voting registration records, "prompting fears that GOP voters might be discriminated against for medical treatment in a Democrat-imposed health care rationing system."

Sweet Gawd is there no end to the  paranoia...

mnottertail -> RE: GOP hints Dems would deny Republicans health care (8/28/2009 12:11:44 PM)

So that means that Joe the Plumber is out on the street peddling his ass, again?

SilverMark -> RE: GOP hints Dems would deny Republicans health care (8/28/2009 12:14:03 PM)

.....no health care for you!.....
yours truly,
The Health Care Nazi

Arpig -> RE: GOP hints Dems would deny Republicans health care (8/28/2009 12:28:38 PM)

It just gets dumber and dumber. I wonder if they realize that pretty much all their arguments were trotted out by the right wing in Canada years ago when we created our system? And do they realize that none of the predicted disasters ever actually materialized?

Politesub53 -> RE: GOP hints Dems would deny Republicans health care (8/28/2009 5:13:45 PM)

More scare tactics used to maintain the status quo. Do republican voters really fall for this B/s. ( I know some here do but still )

ThatDamnedPanda -> RE: GOP hints Dems would deny Republicans health care (8/28/2009 5:23:53 PM)

Any populace stupid enough to elect George W. Bush - twice - is stupid enough to believe the world is not only flat, it was made out of pizza dough by the tooth fairy. If that's what they really want to believe.

Arpig -> RE: GOP hints Dems would deny Republicans health care (8/28/2009 11:45:37 PM)

Well as far as electing GWB twice, its notlike the other side offered them any real worthwhile options...Gore & Kerry, come on!

mefisto69 -> RE: GOP hints Dems would deny Republicans health care (8/29/2009 4:40:27 AM)

HOT OFF THE AP: the health care restrictions will be limited to rebuplican politicians.

rulemylife -> RE: GOP hints Dems would deny Republicans health care (8/29/2009 4:58:46 AM)

If they believed "death panels", why not this?

Interesting that the GOP is not putting out any realistic alternative plan though they claim to want bi-partisanship.

The only thing they are doing is stirring up fear among their gullible base.

DomImus -> RE: GOP hints Dems would deny Republicans health care (8/29/2009 5:18:41 AM)

I saw a democrat legislator in clip from a town hall meeting who basically said that some people are going to have to sacrifice and give up some of their health care so that other may get health care. That ass is gonna get spanked when she gets back to Washington.

Brain -> RE: GOP hints Dems would deny Republicans health care (8/29/2009 11:50:35 AM)

I just hope Obama learns the lesson not to waste his time trying to be bipartisan. Because if he is waiting for bipartisanship from Republicans he will never accomplish anything worthwhile.

Sanity -> RE: GOP hints Dems would deny Republicans health care (8/29/2009 12:03:14 PM)

Essentially, it was a typo. You are inciting paranoia among some of the left leaning "bash America" types here over a single pamphlet...

And really, they don't need any further incitement. [;)]

From the article you linked to:

quote:

Katie Wright, a spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee, said the question was "inartfully worded."

MarsBonfire -> RE: GOP hints Dems would deny Republicans health care (8/29/2009 5:09:17 PM)

Still, you have to admit.... it's a great idea. (Let's also make sure that the "death panels" also favor republicans getting the plug pulled on them.) Think if it... a republican free America! :)

"It has been suggested that the government could use voter registration to determine a person's political affiliation, prompting fears that GOP voters might be discriminated against for medical treatment in a Democrat-imposed health care rationing system. Does this possibility concern you?"

Thats ONE hell of a tpyo or a smelling mistrake

Now I know that apart from the AP link in the first post you might say that the linkage isnt worth the monitor its appearing on, I can find no website from the right that will claim it.
You can actually download the survey in question. They(GOP) haven't denied its existence, just that it was worded "inartfully".... thats a little more than bloody ridiculous.
Paranoia and incredulity(at the lies) are two totally different things.
Lucy

How ironic - Panda's musings prove that the concerns raised in Lucy's pamphlet have legitimacy.

Yeah... great idea. Death panels for Republicans... limiting their health care. [/sarcasm]

Sorry Spinner, words like "Nazis" are merely descriptive, and they probably aren't going away any time soon. [8|]

Oh, for pete's sake. Lighten up, will ya?  What's gotten into you lately? You never used to be wound this tight.

rightwinghippie -> RE: GOP hints Dems would deny Republicans health care (8/29/2009 8:40:32 PM)

Panda can I ask you and any of the Reasonable left a question. Has the Gov ever discriminated in services or justice, because of a actuall or percieved political basis?

You guys do campaign on the premise that Bush let thousands of Americans die, because he hates blacks and Democrats.

Reasonable... who, me? I'm not reasonable. I'm a "true sociopath". I know this because Sanity just sent me an e-mail explaining that because of the joke I made. So I really have no business answering any question that is addressed to the "reasonable left".

But on the other hand... being a true sociopath, I have no regard for proper decorum, so I'll answer it anyway. It's very liberating being in touch with my inner sociopath.

My answer would be certainly, it's a matter of historical record. But consider the scale of what these people are suggesting - do you really think that a sane person would seriously believe our government would openly deny medical care to people who vote for the opposition party? I'm assuming you're not crazy enough to believe that yourself, but do you seriously think anyone could believe that and be considered sane?

I'm honestly not sure what you're referring to here. Katrina, maybe? I'm sorry, I'm just not following your line of thinking.

rightwinghippie -> RE: GOP hints Dems would deny Republicans health care (8/29/2009 10:11:27 PM)

Ive seen right wing Sociopaths, but ok you speak for the Sociopathic left, works for me. Of course they wouldn't do it openly. But if Sanity had to apply to you (or some other sociopathic liberal) for a new kidney, you think you would approve it? Be honest... At the very least it would cause S quite a bit of stress worrying about it.

Why not, there is huge amount of political pressure to direct research funds, as it is now. Disease is already politicised. The more consolidated the system the fewer options, and if its run by the Gov.....

Or that different communites might get different funding levels?

Look at the Delivery of Public Education.

There was at least smoke that Bailout money was going to Car Dealership that had contributed to Obama (I don't know where that stands).

I wanted Bush to do Single payer, so he could sieze the power. He would be on Mt Rushmore. Now I am leery of Democrats taking it, but still think a Single Payer is the best Idea. The Gov needs to have that power in the Modern age.

Philosophically, once your health becomes a public concern, absolutly everything you do becomes the public concern. We should be clear about this. Absolutly everything you do affects your health. I use to oppose National Health, but no longer do. Obama wants to link all the records that are relevant to our health (which is absolutly everything), and have it available online, where it will of course be absolutly protected <ROFLMAO>, and could never be used against you in any way.
