Panda, but I am just not aware of any Conservatives making the argument that Saddam was involved in 911. There must be a whack job out there saying it, but no one in here or in Government. Now I have heard Liberals twist what the Administration said, That Saddam was involved in international terrorism against our allies, that killed Americans and opposed our FP goals, and he shielded Terrorists that killed Americans from justice, which was absolutly true. And there certainly will be decisions made as to what treatments get provided to whom and which do not. There is simply no way to avoid it. Calling them Death Panels is "spin". Personally I want a single payer system, for security, bio terror, and border controll issues. Panda, just think about the thousands of times we heard leftists say (p)"Gore just wants to count all the votes". That was totall nonsense. He wanted votes in counties that overwhelmingly trended Dem to be counted to a different standard than nuetral and Rep leaning counties. While trying to get overseas millitary ballots thrown out. Thats not spin, that is an absolute falsehood. How many times in threads did we hear how Bush was going to cancell the election, there was no basis of fact in that. I just see it far more on your side. Luckily for my side (I suppose) the nuts have split off. The Buchannon/ Ron Paul/truther wing of Conservatism hates Bush and regular Republcans. I mean sure, MSNBC keeps Buchanon on the air. They like him to say silly things and then laugh at him. But he got kicked out of the Republicans a long time ago. Heck, it is a fact that Clinton bombed al Shifa in Sudan 1998, because OBL, alledgedly, was making VX with Saddam's help there. Yet Leftists still try to pretend there was no link between the 2 at all. That there was no possible way the 2 could work towards a common goal sometimes, that there is some impenatrable firewall preventing it. I have never found a leftist who will explain this to me. Killing people in a nation we are not at war with with no trial, because Saddam is assisting a terrorist in making WMD's (granted it was probably for use against the civilians in Darfur rather than us). And then pretending Bush made it all up so he could steal oil for his buddies, and launch an apocolyptic crusade to end the world, because he talks to God while on cocaine and whiskey fueled binges.

Great post, Spinner. I've been called both here (actually, it was "fascist"), and besides it being wrong to do so, it doesn't help advance anyone's ideas.

This is where the thinking needs to change, because it is not a bipartisan problem, it is a problem with the entire political system. I understand what you are saying, but once we can step away from party politics, and address each issue seperately, then we will make progress. Until then we are playing the politicians and corporate/special interests game. No, it is a bipartisan problem, because those are the only 2 parties that are relevant. The Truthers and Greens, ect don't matter much. The Bi partisan center has to begin working together in Good faith or we are doomed as a nation and civilisation

Oh, I agree. The whole nazi and commie namecalling thing is just overdone. It's like yelling "FUCK!" over and over and over until the word loses all meaning. I call upon everyone to be far more creative in their namecalling of republicans in the future. I personally intend to start referring to members of the GOP by terms that are far more accurate, and far less insulting to nazis. Morlocks? Klingons? Neanderthals? Vampires? The possibilities are endless. And let's be truthful: any political party that advocates kidnapping, torture, death squads, wiretapping everyone, starting wars on outright lies about WMD, firing supreme court judges so that shills can be put in their place, "redistricting" to make sure all votes go their way, who proudly sneered at one point that America was going to be "a permanent republican majority" for the forseeable future... among hundreds and hundreds of cases where the Constitution was shredded for years on end... A political party like that deserves every single kick in the nutsack that the American people can manage to give it. Sorry, Spinner. I understand that you want us all to calm down and "play nice." But to me, that's like (sorry to break my agreement so soon) but it's like asking a jew to forgive a group of nazis for gassing his family, friends and neighbors and throwing them into the furnaces... and just let bygones be bygones. It's always amazing to me that the righ wingers, who have tried relentlessly to turn 'liberal' into an epithet and who are so eager to brand anyone left of center a communist, are the ones to demand that leftists disarm before they soften their rhetoric. Do you guys think we're really that stupid? We've learned the lessons you taught us. Reconciliation will only begin when the right starts acknowledging the left as patriotic americans interested in what we believe is best for our nation.

Well since I for one have never called anyone a Communist (except for meatcleaver and few others who were supporters of the USSR, so it was simply descriptive). Mudslinging has been going on for far longer than the USA has been around. So there is no he started it, wah. From either side. The level of Debate HERE IS what WE Make it!! But not all leftists are patriotic Americans interested in what's best for our nation. Nor are all people on the right.

The ACLU makes itself into a bad thing when it attacks things like war memorials.... When liberal becomes synomous with tearing down a memorial put up by war vets in the middle of the dessert, they make themself into a dirty word It's not the "Right" doing that.

All I got to say on this, is when I read a thread that on first seeing, might be interesting, I read through, and see too much of the usual, the name calling , the communist, nazi, socialist, right winger bullshit. I then lose interest, as it is obvious the name callers are not open to considering anything other than the brain washing they have received from people, who don't really give a shit about the voter.

The issue you're bringing up is really quite simple. A latin cross is on federal land over looking a highway between LA and Vegas, why the spot was chosen in the first place. When a person requested that he be allowed to put up a buddhist symbol to commemorate the same war dead the National Park Service turned him down. That makes the display an unconstitutional endorsement of one religion over another which is clearly not what the founders wanted. The ACLU is defending one of the bedrock principles upon which this nation is built and some people are, as usual, trying to make the ACLU out to be in the wrong when they are doing asomething I'm 100% positive Madison, Hamilton and Jefferson would have considered every American's duty.
