Status: offline 		Probably as confused as everyone else... why on earth would you call a shift commander and not emergency services (911) who would then have a record of the call and who have sent officers and perhaps an ambulance if needed.  What did you think the shift commander was going to do?  Did you think he was going to send officers?  Don't you think dispatch (which, in my town, ARE the 911 people) would need to know about this and what the officers are responding to?

Instead, if this ends up in court, the other side will certainly be asking you, "why didn't you call 911? did you not think it was a big deal???"  Or when the neighbors call the police on YOU, and you try to say they are just retaliating and you've done nothing wrong, there will be no record of the assault that you are claiming you are being retaliated against.

Status: offline 		i don't think the stupidity of the police dept is your problem, but rather the stupidity of your "Sir" who calls a non-emergency number and leaves a freakin' message when the sub he is supposed to protect is in the ER with a staple gun aimed at her scalp. what a boob

Good show, lots of valid questions/observations OP.  Btw, when the staples are ready to come out, I have a staple remover just for you. I'll yank them out, the boob can watch and maybe call the local plummer since the police just don't get it.

Yeah...i know...the Chief is a friend of mine...was there when Aunt Alice did her staple shootin'...he likes to replay the tapes at the city counsel meetin's....they vote on which caller is the biggest ass-hat. So far dis one takes first prize.

Did i mention us'ens here at the plumbin' shop like yer tits?

I mean, if the neighbours were making a nuisance of themelves with loud noise at 4am, surely there's something about disturbing the peace and the cops would have come out?

Most all states have a Mandatory Noise Ordinance that usually goes into effect at 10PM or 11PM and noise that reaches a decible level above the ordinance needs to be quieted. Everytime their noise is an issue call the police EVERYTIME TIME AND TIME AGAIN AND AGAIN  Eventually they were receive a General Nuisance Complaint and if they continue to cause problems it will be a criminal charge.

The problem most people have is they don't want to be that guy who calls the police on everything but if they will not be amicable to a solution then keep calling the cops on them.

This was not the correct action. You should have called 911 because you had been assulted and asked them to make note in the system of your call and then gone in the next day to the department and filed an Assult Charge because you have been assulted and then have the one who touched you arrested and try to file a Protective order or a restraining order against the one who shoved you.

I am sorry this is NOT a stupid cop problem it you and your Master not following up with the LEGAL RESPONSIBILITIES. You have to file a complaint, Most cops do not have Jurisdiction in the Civil end, they can come out and ask that the problem stop but a cop cannot even arrest someone unless a crime has been committed and there must be probable cause to believe it had. A Your word against His usually isn't enough. File a complaint and charge him with assult and stuff will be different.

So far none of what you suggested shows that you have done your part in the legal system to have cops do what they are able to.

Confronted...does that mean you knocked on their door and asked them to keep the noise down to a dull roar or were you confrontational ( meaning, to face or oppose boldly, defiantly, or antagonistically ) with them?  If you had done the first, I doubt it would cause them to shove you into a brick wall and result in 15 stitches.

Why?  If you were being assulted or were the victim of an assult, the use of 911, an emergency line, would be called for.

Only once and it was nothing like what you're talking about here and I followed the proper chain of command to rectify the problem.  The officers I know are intelligent and are more than willing to do their job.

You called the shift commander. Hmmm... did you think maybe being a shift commander that maybe just maybe they were oh say busy? On a call already, on the phone perhaps... with another fine citizen.

Why in the fuck didnt you call the regular line for an officer? Are you so damn important that only a shift commander would do?

I have run into "stupid" cops a time or two... but I have have run into a hell of a lot more "stupid" civilains.

~ Like ones that think shift commanders are at their beck and call.

They are damn busy. Calling them directly every time is taxing on the whole system and takes them away from their duties of being in a managerial type of situation. If you have an officer who fucked up then by all means call. Inform them that something happened with one of their officers. Calling them directly for other things just smacks of self importance.
