I remember a time when I was in Poland and I crossed a street when the little red man on the pedestrian crossing was lit. I get to the other side and a policeman called me over to him. So I go over and he's talking to me in Polish and I'm pretending that I don't understand a word of Polish and I'm listening to him intently as he explains that I crossed the street when the little man is red and so I nod and agree 'Yes the little red man is showing.' The policeman points to the crossing. 'Yes this is a pedestrian crossing.' I tell him in English. So he tries again to explain and so I tap his arm and point to the pedestrian crossing and turn to him and say slowly 'Pedestrian crossing.'

This goes on for a while. He points to the pedestrian crossing so I turn to him again and say slowly 'Little red man.' He looks at me. 'I am English. I don't understand,' I say, 'Do you speak English?' He continues babbling on in Polish. And so he holds out his hand and says 'Dokumenty' (he wants to see my passport) and so I shake his hand. He tries again and so I offer him a cigarette. He waves me away. I try to shake his hand but he pulls it away. Then he points down the street.

'Fuck off' he says. And so I did.

That is a lot of emotion. Rationally, the harm to your mother was undetermined. Most likely her condition was either not serious, or she was dead. Unless you are a physician or have other medical qualifications, likely you getting there a few minutes earlier would not have made any difference in the condition of your mother. Whereas you by speeding would pose a serious risk to yourself and others. Like the OP, you should have called an alarm number / 911 and let them do the speeding.

Uhh not so, not serious.  A stroke can be very serious, and the sooner you get medical help, the more likely full recovery is.  And that is just one example.  There are many more.

Or, if CPR had been started even a couple of minutes sooner, the brain wouldn't have been so starved of oxygen that permanent damage or death occurred.

I'm not asking this in a BDSM scenario, btw.

The problem my Sir and I are having is stupid neighbors who keep us awake till like 4:00 am every damned night.

We confronted them earlier and one of the idiots shoved me into a brick wall. That fucking hurt and not in a good way. My Sir called the shift commander for our local PD but the idiot had his phone set to 'leave a message'.

I'm not asking for a solution or sympathy. All I am asking is whether or not anyone else has had to deal with less than intelligent cops and the problem is NOT BDSM. It's just generally stupid cops.

Thanks in advance!

Who called the daughter if the mother was lying on the floor and why didn't they OR the daughter call 911 to have an ambulance sent there?  Surely the likelihood of those darned trained professionals being able to make a positive difference is better than the likelihood of the speeding daughter getting there in one piece without hurting herself or someone else AND making a positive difference.

Yeah, so it was a long sentence.  Sue me.

The daughter in question is right here. I was called by the trained professionals who were already dealing with the problem. I am an otherwise law abiding citizen and an excellent driver with a clean record, and I was only going twelve mph over the limit on a clear road in good weather. I was also very worried about My mother and in a hurry to get there. Are you telling Me that if someone that close and important to you, like a parent or a child maybe, was injured, ill, or in trouble, that you would not also be in the teensiest bit of a hurry to arrive on scene?
I also make positive differences in the lives of the people I care about, as well as the occasional stranger who seems to need it, as often as humanly possible.
Any other questions..?

The emotional urgency you felt is understandable. However, from a rational point of view it was not justified. The cop did his job by admonishing you.

I see, but do not agree. Neither do I wish anyone that urgency in their lives, but kindly do not presume to judge what is and is not justified in Mine. I was the only child of this good woman, who is now deceased. I would like to know what My detractors do think is justified, under the circumstances.
Like none of you have ever or will ever speed for half as good of a reason. Ever been in a hurry to get to someone you care about? Ever been late to work, even once, and been worried that you might lose your livelihood if you were?
No? Not even a little bit?
Sure.

Hehehe.

and my ex has a masters - is he one of the stupid cops????????

In this instance, given the facts as presented, i would have to question who was the stupid one.

To be a police officer for most departments you have to have at least an Associates degree Plus the acadamy schooling.

That is a hell of a lot more schooling then most folks walking about.

*eyeroll*

actually no, age of 21, to be able to carry a firearm, clean records both criminal and traffic, and proper training and schooling thru the department, the police acadamy....but most do not require college degrees.......now if you speak of FBI or any other such agency rather than local police departments, yes they do require degrees and then they have a mandatory age cut off as well before they will hire you.

Some states DO REQUIRE two years of college to even be considered for the police academy.

which would be either that local department or even that individual state....as I said most do not.....each department would have their requirements....I am in GA, and I am a former officer (with no degree nor even college classes)....the requirement would vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction as to what they require. Now from the acadamy on with the continious classes taken all thru the years yes there is a never ending learning and constantly keeping up on one's training on a yearly basis, with a minimum amount of classroom hours of training yearly to maintain one's certification. Most any department I know, simply to be of 21 yrs of age with clean records as they will train you from there to become a police officer.

For the most part, I like cops.  Many of my friends are in law enforcement in some way or another.  My friend who was my maid of honor in my wedding is a detective, and a damn good shot.  I have state trooper friends, deputy friends, local P.O. friends, all kinds.  There are idiots in every profession, so concentrating on law enforcement seems so......  limiting.

red is quite correct. We live in a relatively small town where My Husband was born and raised, and in fact went to High School with like half the police force. They're a cool and relatively no-nonsense bunch of blokes that are easy to talk to and will *JUMP* when they think somebody needs them.
The aforementioned incident concerning the officer who kept me from getting to My mother was a single isolated and particularly upsetting thing. I have every justified respect for all honest public servants who haven't forgotten the true nature of why they wear the badge, and Gods bless 'em.
Thank all that's holy I didn't fall in love with one, though. That, I don't think I could handle..
